Does anyone see a lot of similarities between Scott and AJ? I mean... they K tons of batters and when they get wild.. they get wild. I know AJ throws harder but I see so many similarities between them.

I mean how both can be nasty one minute and the next they walk 4 batters in a row.

There are some similarities, but at this point in his short MLB career, I don't think that Olsen has shown anywhere near the same precocious nastiness that AJ showed in the beginning of his MLB career. Or the same speed on his fastball. You might be right though. Pitchers develop at different rates. Let's see how things look at the end of the year. In thinking about the difference between this year and other losing years, this may be one of the differences. AJ looked like a possible gem in the rough from day 1. Olsen, Petit, etc., all good prospects....but not as exciting as AJ in the beginning.

I really don't see how they can be similar. One is a righty and the other a lefty. One is a power pitcher and the other is not. And ofcourse since Olsen is a LEfty he is expected to be wild once in a while.

I think mentally Olsen is just going through being a young pitcher at the moment and losing focus and mechanics at times. A.J meanwhile is from another planet entirely:)

On the plus side for Olsen, he can't throw 100, thus removing the temptation that AJ always had to just try and throw his fastball by everyone.
