June 12, 200620 yr Tonight in Detroit the Devil Rays will send out their young'n Scott Kazmir against the Tigers young'n Justin Verlander. Here's the question...which one do you think will have the better major league career? Verlander - 23 years old 2006: 7-4, 3.35 ERA, 1 CG, 1 SO, 47 Ks, 22 BB, 1.21 WHIP Kazmir - 22 years old 2006: 7-4, 3.59 ERA, 0 CG, 0 SO, 80 Ks, 28 BB, 1.39 WHIP Kaz is a lefty, and has much higher strikeout numbers this season. Verlander, of course, was blowing by batters at A and AA last season which gave him pretty high K expectations, so it's almost disappointing to see the 47 Ks. It's really tough to say who will have the better career.
June 12, 200620 yr Time will tell especially when Verlander goes thru his sophomore season.....Kazmir struggled his 1st year and bounced back big time....
June 12, 200620 yr Kaz has a few red flags because of his arm slot, velocity, and size. Both are sick and you can't go wrong either way. I guess I'd probably go with Kazmir because the strikeout numbers are impressive and indicative of big-time success.
June 12, 200620 yr Should be a great game to watch tonight on FSN Florida while nothing else is on. Bing-o HR for Jose Cantu in the top of the first off Verlander, btw
June 12, 200620 yr I like Verlander's mental makeup more. Kaz seems like a hot head. a hot head??? examples please..... Plus, you of all people should realize that Kazmir's good....he freakin owns the Red Sox.
June 12, 200620 yr Author For some reason it seems like the Rays are involved in bean-ball wars, Kazmir is in the middle of it. Maybe that's what Superman is referring to.

Plus, you of all people should realize that Kazmir's good....he freakin owns the Red Sox. Where did I say he wasn't good? I never stated that and I don't believe that. 'Owns' is a strong word. He has done well against us, but he doesn't own us. He didn't adjust in his last start against us, and we finally bit him (5.1 IP, 5 ER). The Sox aren't a team that hits well against lefties either, it isn't a secret. But yeah, the kid is damn good but overall I like big Verlander better.
