July 14, 200620 yr I don't know much about the guy except he had a nice rookie year and nothing after that.. but is he more capable of a player than Abercrombie?
July 14, 200620 yr yes, i want him. i prefer matos over him--apparently so do the nationals. but he's an improvement over abercrombie.

July 14, 200620 yr He would certainly be cheap. I would take Matos over Byrd but would put either of them out there over Abercrombie in a heart beat. I hate to say it but I agree, sort of. At this point centerfield has become such a black hole that a guy hitting.230 and an OBP above .300 would be an improvement over our current centerfielder. The problem with Byrd though, seems to be Byrd himself, who for whatever reason appears to be a trouble magnet and may not fit in well at Camp Girardi.
July 14, 200620 yr Byrd does kill the Marlins. I speculated in the other thread that he could be a decent pickup, but I don't think it will happen, or will amount to much, afterall, he isn't the long term answer we'd be looking for.
July 14, 200620 yr The Reds just claimed Bradon Watson off of waivers from Washington; I'm surprised you guys didn't try to get him.
