August 11, 200619 yr I went to that Dodgers-Fish game but couldn't get one of the alarm clocks because I'm not 12 and under. I really, really, wanted one. If anyone went to that game and has an extra one or one they don't want, I would gladly buy it from you.
August 11, 200619 yr I see one on eBay right now... currently at $26.00 with 9 hours to go. Maybe I should sell my Domino Set... :shifty
August 11, 200619 yr Author I see one on eBay right now... currently at $26.00 with 9 hours to go. Yeah, I was the first bidder but now it's at $26.00 and I'm not willing to pay THAT much. I gave one of the guys handing them out 2 bucks and he gave me one. I'll have to do that next time. :lol
August 11, 200619 yr I gave one of the guys handing them out 2 bucks and he gave me one. I do that with just about every kids giveaway sometime i have to give him like 5 or so but I found a guy that's always willing to make a deal and go to him every time.
August 11, 200619 yr I hear if you say you're 12, no matter how old you look, they have to give you one. At least that's what they told me Sunday (I really wanted a binder). You heard wrong :lol ... Been there, done that.. Its almost impossible to get kids giveaways unless you pay which 2 bucks isnt bad
August 12, 200619 yr I'll have to try this when they have a really nice giveaway, like a bobblehead. just give the guy a couple of bucks and you get another bobblehead. sounds good.

Been there, done that.. Its almost impossible to get kids giveaways unless you pay which 2 bucks isnt bad I'd rather pay 2 bucks then 26. I used to go in the late 90's. They advertised it as "FIRST 10,000 KIDS" but they handed one to everyone walking through the gates. I went to 60 games in 1995 and never missed a giveaway. I went to a Padres game recently. Same deal. They advertised it as "FIRST 5,000 KIDS" but everyone walking through the gates got a Padres duffle bag. And that game was virtually sold out. I don't see why, with the kind of crowds we get now, they can't just give everyone a 2 dollar giveaway. The 2006 Marlins are stingy.
August 12, 200619 yr Only giving the giveaway to what they think are kids is a type of profiling. :mischief

Been there, done that.. Its almost impossible to get kids giveaways unless you pay which 2 bucks isnt bad I figured they were probably wrong, but whatever. I'll pay 2 bucks for the kids giveaways, they're usually the ones I want and I always miss out (though I did bitch enough to get a binder). THATS WHAT U DO!! :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy

They have been like that for years I want that little Marlins car they gave to kids last month. I was there, tired to get one... No luck :plain
August 12, 200619 yr Author The winning bidder paid $26.00 plus $5.01 for the clock. :o Talk about over-paying.

Considering how small the crowds are I agree they've been very stingy with giveaways this year. I remember when I so easily collected the Beckett, Burnett bobbleheads (2002?). They always used to have lots of extra giveaways in the old days. Eliminating the Saturday giveaways this year is pretty bad (sorry, that scratch off card doesn't cut it as a giveaway!).
August 12, 200619 yr The Marlins have nothing to do with paying for promotions. Have you ever noticed theres a sponsor for every promotion? The sponsors decide how much they want to pay and for which type of promotion. A sponsor is not going to pay for 20,000 whatevers if only 10,000 might show up for a game. Its the same way for every team in every league everywhere.
