August 11, 200620 yr BUFFALO, N.Y. -- An Iraq war veteran who lost an arm and leg in a roadside bombing was mugged during a night out from the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, according to an Associated Press report. Lance Cpl. Mark Beyers, 27, and his wife were attacked and robbed as they left a restaurant in Bethesda, Md. on July 22. The Marine from western New York was dining out while finishing up rehabilitation at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. As they left the restaurant, five men approached them and asked for a cigarette. Denise Beyers told The Buffalo News they gave the men a cigarette -- but then the men grabbed her purse and kicked the couple to the ground. The thieves made off with $500 just wired to them by a relative. Mark Beyers expects to be back home in the Buffalo area this weekend. http://www.local6.com/news/9623442/detail.html I am really losing faith in society...
August 11, 200620 yr It's Bush's fault. If we hadn't gone to Iraq then he would have never lost his arm or leg and they probably wouldn't have attacked him. /getting this out of the way

August 12, 200620 yr Despicable. It's bad enough that he was badly injured in combat at that age, and now he's robbed. Ugh.
August 12, 200620 yr The fact that some of you would make this political, is laughable. You claim to be disgusted, yet you seem just fine to make a joke about it, I'm SURE you really care about this guy. Yeah, it's us who have the problem.

August 12, 200620 yr I don't follow jimmy jacks posts, but I keep seeing him get slammed before he even comments for being a democrat... No one is bashing you before you talk... ease up guys im neither democrat or republican, because i believe in what george washington said when he said that political parties will ruin this country...i tend to be more liberal because i dont believe in what current conservatives believe in, but i do believe in in such things as the death penalty and im against abortion and so forth...but i also believe there is another side to every story which deserves some sort of representation...but i will never support violence in any form from any group of people irregardless of race, sexualty, religious beliefs, political beliefs, or what have you...after all...the golden rule is to love thy neighbor...not love thy neighbor only if they agree with me and maybe...that is overly optimistic...but in this f***ed up world we live...a little opmitism might actually help some people instead of giving them a reason to hate and cause the senseless violence that occurs everyday around the world
