Nearly lost in the hype of an outstanding class of rookie Marlins starters is the fact that last year's staff ace is struggling through his weakest season yet.

While Willis still provides an invaluable presence in the Marlins' clubhouse as a leader and team cheerleader, the 24-year old southpaw has been unable to find a consistent rhythm throughout the year.

Marlins manager Joe Girardi said that he suspects Willis may have felt pressure to excel on a team full of young first-year players.

"I think he's put some extra pressure on himself," Girardi said. "He might have been thinking, 'I have to win,' and that's a heavy burden to carry."

Following two straight losses, Willis will try to regroup on Sunday afternoon when he takes the mound against the Braves. He'll face Lance Cormier, who is seeking his first win of the season as a starter.

Pitching matchup:

FLO: LHP Dontrelle Willis (7-10, 4.14 ERA)

Willis is looking for his first win of the season against the Braves, with a loss and two no-decisions earlier in the year.

ATL: RHP Lance Cormier (2-4, 6.08 ERA)

Cormier is winless in four starts this season since moving from the Braves' bullpen.

Player to watch: Matt Diaz has hit at a .559 (19-for-34) clip against the Marlins this season, with two home runs and six RBIs in 12 games.
