Assuming he'll get a callup when Albuquerque's season ends, the worst possble thing would be to sit him on the bench and cool off.
September 3, 200619 yr Hermida did more in his first AB than Chris has ever done or looked capable of doing. I wouldn't mind having his defense on the team but he's not starting caliber.
September 3, 200619 yr I'm no Aguila fan but I think he deserved a shot before Borchard, Ross and Almezaga. He has never gotten a fair shot. Defensively he would be our best OF.

Aguila has never shown that he is as good or better than anyone the Marlins have that can play rightfield. Every time he has gotten a chance in the bigs, he has shown a complete inability to hit a major league breaking ball and little ability to hit a fastball. Ross and Borchard should (and will) start in RF for the majority of games till Hermida is healthy for good reason ? Aguila still isn't ready for the show.
September 3, 200619 yr No matter how bad Hermida's struggling, his season is still better than Aguila's career. The worst part is that his (Aguila) carrer splits indicate he is much better against right-handed pitching (.250/.316/.385/.700) than he is against left-handed pitching (.176/.243/..235/.479), where Hermida and Amezaga have struggled. Could that change? Sure, but I don't necessarily think we should want to find out if three years of history are wrong while we're in a very tight playoff race. Put it this way, I'd rather have Hermida and Amezaga who are hitting (.266/.342/.402/.744) and (.293/.354/.396/.749) off right handers, respectively get the starts. So unless you want to sit Willingham... There's that comprehension problem of yours again rearing it's ugly head. I put the word "deserve" in quote marks for a reason and no I'm not being contradictory. He doesn't "deserve" (as in an entitlement) anything anymore than the next guy but at the same time if brought up I'm simply saying it might be the right thing to do see if his bat stays hot at the ML level. You have Hermida batting .158 in the last month, Ross about the same and Borchard .185. Seems to me there isn't alot of downside to seeing if he can continue his torrid AAA pace for a few days or weeks more, and if he can, good, if he can't, it probably won't be any worse that what we're getting now. To quote you "the worst possble thing would be to sit him on the bench and cool off," thus suggesting the only other course of action was "playing" (if it's still too difficult, the opposite of not playing is playing). Thus, since the "worst possible thing" is not playing, it's opposite therefore is the only acceptable thing (unless you like, by your own admission, the worst). Hence, playing is the only acceptable option...to you, which, of course contradicts your initial stance of he doesn't deserve any guarantees regarding PT since in your own words, anything less than regular PT is the "worst possible thing" we can do.

Of course they're your opinion, to suggest that this is Girardi's idea would almost immediatly place me in the camp he deserves to be fired, but that's not the point. The point is, your opinions contradicted each other. One opinion was that he doesn't deserve anything; yet another was that he has to play his way out of the lineup. Laughably opposite. Think about the value of words, since credibility obviously has no meaning to you (otherwise you'd have taken greater steps to preserve yours).
