October 15, 200619 yr Damn, I thought Chris was a great guy. Hope he can make the 25man roster on another club. Good luck Chris!
October 16, 200619 yr reggie actually has star potential compared to aguila's bench potential expect him to stick around another year :banghead

October 16, 200619 yr Best of luck to Mr. Aguila. I like him, and hopefully he'll find a team where he can start everyday. Speaking of Chris -- watching him open and close the Marlins segment on EMERIL LIVE last night was quite ironic considering this latest move. Seeing him all smiles and in a Marlins uniform made me feel bad in a way.
October 17, 200619 yr Aguila should of gotten a chance to start...consistently...at some point this year. If not to start out the season. Poor guy, mark my words, he will be listed as one of the ones who got away...and it is going to suck when he plays great for another team. He actually was starting some at the beggining of this year, but for gosh sakes he never once showed the slightest possibility of being able to hit ML pitching. I can never remember him having an impressive night at the play, getting multiple hits in a game, etc.
October 17, 200619 yr Aguila was never given a chance. This year he was a victim (just like the Marlins as a whole) of the love affair with the garbage man, when he performed better than Reggie when allowed to play. BTW, he had multiple hits in 4 of the 12 games in which he was allowed 4 ABs.

If given a chance I don't know if he would have been better than the guys we picked up from the scrap pile but I know he was a in our organization for several years and did a good job in the minors and to me that made him more deserving of a real shot than the scrap pile guys.
October 17, 200619 yr Thank God. Finally we can stop being fixated on talent never realized. Exactly. And to think what we lost in the process. Sure, a AAA or pro-rated MLB salary, 40-man roster benefits and a few hundred AB's and games of substandard production may not seem like much. But consider what affect they may have had on another player. You're losing twice right there. Ever more reason why playing Abercrombie or any player who shows little to no sign of reaching his potential is such a mistake.
October 17, 200619 yr The object of the game is to win. To do that the team has to put the best talent possible together. Chris Aguila's role was marginal. If he couldn't produced off the bench we need to get someone who can. Cody Ross made his claim for the 4th Outfielder. Aguila isn't quite as good as Cody, therefore he is expendable

Cody is a better defensive outfielder with a powerful arm. He is a more powerful hitter as well as well as his hits seemed to be more clutch in only 256 ab he had 46 rbi over 500ab it would project to close to 100 rbi
