November 3, 200619 yr Just out of curiosity, how good is he there? I know he played there before, but just curious since I must assume we won't have Helms back. I figure he will get the job if we trade Jacobs for a CF, and maybe then (unless we acquire another LF) platoon Borchard & Cody in LF. If Jacobs stays I was also thinking that if/when they sit Jacobs vs LHP, they could play Hammer at 1B and Cody in LF (assuming the CFer acquired doesn't need a platoon).
November 3, 200619 yr He's better defensively than Jacobs, though that isn't saying much. And from what I saw in S.T., soft hands and good footwork, albeit with slow(er) reaction times.
November 4, 200619 yr Gaby Sanchez in all likelyhood would play firstbase instead of Willy if we traded Jacobs.
November 4, 200619 yr Gaby Sanchez in all likelyhood would play firstbase instead of Willy if we traded Jacobs. Gaby needs to learn how to hit High A first :thumbup
November 4, 200619 yr Gaby Sanchez in all likelyhood would play firstbase instead of Willy if we traded Jacobs. in a few years, yes. But he doesn't have enough experience right now.
November 4, 200619 yr Yeah Gaby may need more expierence but it might not be too bad to throw him into the fire. Put him Carolina and see how he does. If he struggles no harm done, but if he dominates or even does reasonally well that might warrant him a spot in the 25 man. But we have to wait to see how Gaby does in Sping Traning and to showcase a healthy Jacobs for a possible trade.
November 4, 200619 yr i think Willingham would do just fine and get the job done. never really thought about him even playing 1B until TSwift25 brough it up. Makes a very interesting point to put him there knowing he will give us the 20+ HR each year and has a good eye. Defense? There is nothing Perry Hill can't iron out in ST before the season starts. Moving Jacobs would be tough IMO but if it lands us the CF we need, then so be it.

No. Sanchez is a hell of a prospect but there's no way in hell he's ready for the bigs yet. Put him with Carolina for a little while. That way the orginization can get an idea of where he is and where he's going.
