The Golden Boy Vs The Pretty Boy

Featured Replies

The Golden Boy looked like the Golden punching bag in round 11. It's like round 1 for Mayweather. Oscar had one big hit at the end of the round, round 12 will decide the fight. Oscar is really wobbly though.

Wow.

It's over. Wow. I just don't know right now. I gotta think Floyd though, but it is going to be really close. Floyd won that round I think, but Oscar came strong in the last minute. I want another round!!

I don't think either guy was hurt the entire fight, but Oscar wore down more than Mayweather.

I agree it should be Mayweather

Seems like they got one right for once.

I give it to Floyd 116 - 112 but it's Oscar so you never know but Floyd was damn impressive against an Oscar that was at his best tonight.

Floyd has officially landed in the top 5 fighters of all time after tonight.

It's Sugar Ray Robinson at #1, Henry Armstrong at #2 and then Ali, Willie Pep, and Mayweather can be put at either of the remaining slots.

Tonight was truly a virtuosso performance

edit: and it's Floyd

Some say that Floyd should fight Sugar Shane Mosely next, but that's too easy for him.

Here's an idea. He's now a champion at Welterweight, and Junior Middleweight at the same time. Why not the ultimate test? Move up to Middleweight and challenge Jermain Taylor for his Middleweight championship. Taylor's strong but too sloppy, I would honestly take floyd.

It would make Floyd only the second man to ever hold belts in three weight classes at the same time. Although Henry Armstrong did it, their was much less divisions.

what were the official scores ?

SD: 115-113(DLH), 116-112 & 115-113(M)

He says he will but I really don't know he's got a big ego, and even bigger bank roll to fill, I truly hope he doesn't because he can be even greater with two or three more fights and I will go as far as to say that he could possibly end up being THE best fighter to ever live.

As for Oscar, I'd like to say Thank you. I used to hate this man but after all he's done for the sport, I can't fathom it. He was never the greatest boxer but he always gave it everything and gave so much into this sport. He never had to take this fight tonight. He could have fought Trinidad and it would have been a much easier fight and just as big, but he went after the best because it was good for the sport.

That shows that this man is a true warrior. And nothing should be taken away from him tonight, he fought a brilliant fight but their is just no one else around like Pretty Boy Floyd.

No doubt, I agree about De La Hoya. Couldn't put it any better.

What do you think of a Hatton-Mayweather fight, rune?

What do you think of a Hatton-Mayweather fight, rune?

Mayweather will win that fight but I do like it as a matchup. Hatton has what it takes to bring it to Floyd. Granted Rickey has not looked that good in his past two fights but he has the same style as Jose Luis Castillo(who of course Hatton fights in June on HBO) which gave Mayweather the only trouble of his career. He gets close, he fires body shots, and he can slow Mayweather down. Mayweather's still the clear favorite but if Hatton is the same Hatton who brought down Kostya Tszyu it's a very interesting fight.

Good fight my friends and I ended up finding a small little mexican place that was showing it. This was a lot better than the last fight that I saw on PPV it was Mayweather Gotti and only lasted like 2 rounds.

I agree with your assessment on the fight. Mayweather wins, but it would be a lot closer then it should be based on skill.

Hatton is an absolute bull with great stamina who wouldn't back down. Would really be an exciting fight, and I think it would help boxing a lot based on Hatton being white and the perceived thuggish/easy to hate attitude that people (wrongly) think Mayweather has.

That split decision was ridiculous. What was that one judge smoking?

I can see someone scoring it a draw or having Oscar ahead by a point or two. It's not that ridiculous. I had Oscar winning rounds 2,3 5,6,7 and 8, but I just knew Floyd was going to dominate the later rounds. You could tell he was playing possum with Oscar.

I'm sure it's been said already, but i'm trashed and too lazy to read the rest of the post..... Mayweather Sr. must have been drunk or something.

Flurries of blocked punches do not equate to round victories.
