Now I know he didnt have that huge an impact until late in the season when he got healthy and confident. Guess what? He is starting now. Aside from my missing out on Yao, I think I did a good job on what foreign players would do what.... The Spurs are becoming the mold of what the NBA is going to be in the 21st century. Now....lets discuss basketball in general.

The New Jersey Nets waived the eight-time All-Star center on Tuesday after finalizing what is believed to be a $30 million contract buyout. Mutombo, a four-time defensive player of the year who played for the Philadelphia 76ers before joining the Nets last season, appears unlikely to return to Philadelphia. "It will play itself out in the next couple of days," Sixers general manager Billy King told The Philadelphia Inquirer on Monday. "If I were a betting man, I think he'll wind up north of Philadelphia." Mutombo, 37, played in just 24 games with the Nets in 2002-03, having suffered a torn ligaments in his wrist. While the Nets have depth at center with Aaron Williams and the offseason acquisition of Alonzo Mourning, the Knicks can offer Mutombo more playing time. Mutombo averaged 5.8 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.54 blocks last season. He appeared in 10 playoff games, averaging 1.8 points and 2.7 rebounds. The Nets lost to the San Antonio Spurs in six games. "I know a lot of teams are interested in me," Mutombo said. "I'll find a home some way." Philadelphia acquired Mutombo in February 2001. He helped lead the Sixers to the NBA Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers, who beat the Sixers in five games. I think if all goes right for them, a 5th seed is not out of question. Curry began to become a dominate low post player last year. His rebounding is still questionable. Chandler is pretty much the opposite as his rebounding has been fine but he really has no defined scoring game yet. Those two along with Crawford should help to lead the Bulls to the playoffs along with vets like Marshall and Pippen.

If they're healthy, they are still one of the most talented teams going. Of course it all hinges on Webber's health and if Bibby can bounce back from last years horrible effort and actually earn that large paycheck. Miller's addition just adds to their depth.
October 9, 200322 yr The Western Conf is wide open and despite what some say, their going downhill fast(I did not say The East was better) The Lakers, looked to be a lock but then the controversy came and The GLove and THe Mailman do not have much time. The Spurs still have to prove that they can win without their leader, they looked like The Jazz when it came to FA and Timmy now has to lead. This off-season hurt The Spurs no doubt. Parker had to deal with rumors that brought nothing to SA and they left with A Center who some can say was not even the best center available(not me) The Blaz, problems off the court and aging players. The Mavericks are still The Mavericks. Also to anyone who says that THe Kings are as good as they were two years ago is beyond me. Miller will prove to be a stiff when he faces The West's Center four times a year and CWebb has had on and off court problems. In my book The West is wide open.

I sure as hell hope so, I finally have begun to wear My Bull stuff with pride and as long as they can finish better than THe Sixers(I live in PA), I will be happy just because I can rub it in the faces of those who became Sixers fans after MJ left town.

Most of the national basketball media dont know their heads from their asses. When the East discovers scouting outside of the United States they will start to suceed.
October 9, 200322 yr I like the Grizz. If they can get Dickerson healthy, he'll make a good guard combo with Jason Williams, who was tamed under Hubie Brown last year. Gasol and his 18 PPG team with Mike Miller, former ROY who just got a contract-extension. At center, Lorenzen Wright is okay, nothing special, but won't hurt you. The Grizzlies achillies heel was defense, and they just got Bo Outlaw to shore that area up. They have good depth too with Shane Battier, Wesley Person, Stromile Swift and Dahntay Jones. Of course, in the Midwest, they won't get anywhere. The Rockets, Mavs, Spurs, etc. own that division.

(we got KG for 6 more glorious years, ----- SORRY WILD CARD, not) Anyway, the only actual teams worthy of calling themselves "Basketball Teams" in the East are... the... Pistons Pacers Nets The Magic, 76ers, Hornets, Celtics, and maybe even the Bulls might have some argument for them. But really its just between the Pistons, Pacers, or Nets to see who loses to either the Lakers, Spurs, or my T'Wolves in the finals. The Mavericks have no D and the Spurs, Lakers, and Wolves can all keep score with Dallas. The Kings have good offense and defense but like Dallas would still be way outgunned by the Big 3 in the west of LA, Minny, and San An. Basically I'll give you my top teams in NBA going into this year... 1. Los Angeles Lakers 2. San Antonio Spurs (with the Wolves not far behind) 3. Minnesota Timberwolves 4. Dallas Mavericks 5. The teams that made the most improvement on their rosters in the off season.... Lakers, Wolves, Spurs, Mavericks, Pistons, Nets, and Kings. Basically the 7 best teams in the NBA only got better and had the best off seasons of any one in the NBA, scary thought aint it? My pick in the West is Lakers. In the East I say Pistons. Finals: Lakers over Pistons. I say the Wolves actually win a series this year in the playoffs and then depending on who we get after that maybe 2. But 1 to be conservative. The Wolves are on the same level as the Spurs the only thing that seperates these 2 teams is that the Spurs have the intangibles of knowing how to win and win and win in the playoffs. The Lakers even without Kobe are a cut above the rest. Period.

And this is coming from a guy who's take on him before the draft was: "Loved him at Ohio State, but he's not going to do anything in the NBA." He's really developed into a quality shooter.
October 9, 200322 yr Dwyane Wade Has me excited about Heat Basketball again.Last two have been horrible to watch for us (Heat fans) but this year really looking foward to seeing Dwyane Wade play.I don't think that highly of Caron but this guy is impressive.I dare to say he has hall of fame potential down the line.
