In our pitchers, who could be traded and who is untouchable?

Featured Replies

In your opinion, if our front office chose to trade 1 or 2 young pitcher to acquire veteran CF or young CF or other player, who could be traded and who is "untouchable" ?

thanks for your opinion and happy christmas

Sanchez, JJ, Olsen and Tank are untouchables

Nolasco , Pinto can be moved in the right trade

Mitre and Petit are expendable

Our trade value is in the plethora of pitching talent in our minors and there only Volstadt and West are untouchable

I agree w/ Eddie. sanchez, JJ,olsen,tank-untouchable...nolasco pinto petit could be moved in the right trade. mitre is expendable to me, but I woulnd't just give him away, as some people probably would like to.

For one reason or another, whether it be talent or health, every pitcher on the 25 man roster is untouchable and everyone in the minor leagues isn't, depending of course on who is being traded for. *I say this because most of the top pitchers in the minors are at least a year away from contributing at the MLB level so current pitchers are not so easily replaced from the minors.*

Obviously, whether you like Maverick's ratings or BA's whoever you're going to look to not trade your first two or three or ten best prospects but if for example we were trading top prospect for top prospect to fill a need, in this case centerfield, that trade gets done.

Were our closer situation resolved then you might look to trade a current starter to solidify the outfield but as long as there's a chance one of the starters (probably Nolasco) could wind up anchoring the pen, all you do is fix one problem while creating another. More and more (and if Admin Beinfest proves me wrong next week I won't complain) I suspect it's going to be spring training and we know Mitre's status and the get an idea of what Lindstrom and Owens and Gregg will or won't contribute before we resolve centerfield.

It isn't like pitching is going to be worth any less come March. If anything it's likely it will be more. I realize having a slow off-season like this one is difficult to endure as fans but if the FO wants to wait, we wait.

Come March other teams with a surplus of outfielders go through the same weeding out process as we will with our young pitchers. It's the waiting that's killing us...

when Gil Meche gets a 5 year/55 million deal, I think it means most, if not all, of our minimum wage starters are untradeble (for now)
