i havent wrote on here on a while...but something has me questioning miguel cabreras desire to be in florida, like as if he doesnt care whether he plays here or not. I read that he always wanted to play on the marlins but idk something tells me we mite be looking to deal him soon b/c money is more important to him now.

let me know if it just me

it's just you. just because he went to arbitration with the team doesn't mean he's all about the money. I'm sure he loves to play the game, and is seeking as much money as he can possibly get, just like every other player does. if he was offered a $10 million from the fish, he wouldn't turn it down and say "no, I just want to play" and just take $35,000 for living expenses. not gonna happen.

If you were out-earned in your 1st three seasons by Hank Blalock when you're a player like Miggy, you'd want as much money as you could get, too.

And, FWIW, being all about the money doesn't mean you're against the team just like being team oriented doesn't mean you completely forgo a payday.

Blalock is a better OVERALL player.... Cabrera might get more respect from me and the rest of the non-homer league if he would learn to field like an at least AVERAGE third baseman. He has NO RANGE and is TERRIBLE at charging groundballs. He is a defensive liability and I'm not just going by fielding percentage. FP dose not take into account the balls he can't get to or doesn't even try for. When he hits 45 homeruns and drives in 140 to go with his high AVG, then he gets a free pass on his D... until then ANY 3rd baseman who can field and hit at a .800 OPS clip can be on my team over Miggy...

I know you're just being an attention whore, but I figured I would respond anyway

As for your fielding issues with Cabs. He improved each month last year, and I expect more to happen this year. Hank Blalock isnt in Cabs' league.

I had alot of problems with his glove last year. And what seemed at times his reluctance to try to get to a ball. But I will concede that he did improve as the year wore on. He still needs alot of work charging a ball and throwing to 1B. But he has the tools and I fully expect to see a better defensive player this year.

Not that I'm agreeing with that poster. Never did care much for people that insist I have a right to their opinion.

Cabrera wants to play in Florida but after this offseason its clear the organization will not pay him what he's worth, and you can only accept a paycut to stay somewhere to a certain degree.

Even if he did take a slight paycut to stay here, the organization really didn't show much appreciation towards Castillo when he took less money to stay here.

Cabrera can be as unselfish as he wants his salary and CAN still want to move to another market for opportunities of fame.

Tookmybones, it seems to me that home runs are the most important statistic for you. Perhaps you would trade Cabs for Adam Dunn. After all, he had 40 homers. Who cares that he struck out nearly 200 times and batted .234? If you are a diehard fan, you must know that Cabs got nearly nothing to hit last season. He wasn't swinging for the fences; he went with what the pitchers gave him. I don't know what kind of vendetta you have against Cabs, but what he did in 2006 was nothing short of amazing: surrounded by a rookie team, he nearly took the batting title and was 5th in MVP voting (should have been higher IMO).

alrite nvm...just read this

"I want to be here. I want to play with this team. I don't know what they're going to do. But I love this team," Cabrera said. "This is a franchise that gave me the opportunity to play in the big leagues. They gave me the opportunity to sign in pro ball. They gave me a lot of chances to play at this level. That's why I want to stay here. I want to help this team make the playoffs. I want to live here."

but!!!!! will marlins want pay the money that he want???? i think marlins during off season will do their best to trade him for some young guys

This is the offseason. And he is now the highest payed player on the roster and there is still no new stadium. And I don't think they are in a rush to trade him.

whether Cabrera WANTS to stay here is irrelevent...its whether the fish will pony up the dinero's he wants, and given Samsons insistence that the payroll will not increase untill the stadium is built.....we will be watching Miggy in someone else's road grays after this year....he would be the marquee name the team needs in 2011 to open the stadium but i don't see it happening.....

anybody remember when Castillo said he wanted to stay and the fish traded him to the Twins anyway.....

uh yeah...the problem with that logic is that despite all the great and wonderful things castillo did as a marlin...he isnt miguel cabrera...not even close

And THAT is irrevelant if Cabrera doesn't want to stay here.
