Posted March 9, 200718 yr Marlins reassigned RHP Travis Bowyer, C Chris Ashby, RHP Jacob Marceaux, RHP Ryan Tucker, LHP Sean West and LHP Aaron Thompson to minor league camp. A healthy Bowyer would have contended for a bullpen spot, but he appears set to miss a second straight season after undergoing shoulder surgery in August. RotoWorld.com
March 9, 200718 yr What kind of list is that? Hopefully by the end of the day the list is three times as long. Bowyer and West are injured. The rest, aren't even leftovers (and that's not a shot at their talent, more their readiness for MLB). Make some real cuts already. :banghead All they're doing is taking up space.
March 9, 200718 yr With our upper level pitchers dropping like flies, we may need these guys sooner than we think. It's good that they got a little bit of ST time to get somewhat acclimated.

Davis, Seabol, Sorenson, Stokes, fillintheblank...just me, disagree all you want but the landscape is littered with non-roster invitees and nowhere near ready for prime-time minor leaguers like Ungs, Mildren (just look at some of the names you've seen in the box scores the last week and said, "who"?). They've had their day in sun and it's time to move them over to the other field and let the big dogs hunt. Up until today the bullpen areas at ST games looked like commuter rail stops at rush hour. Ditto standing room only in the dugouts. I'm always in the camp that says the sooner you get the team playing together as a team the better off you are. Doesn't means I'm right or there isn't room to keep 30-35 or so players around to the final cuts but, with alot of regs underproducing I'd like to see some of them getting more playing time. You don't lose anything by moving non-roster invitees to the minor league fields so long as you keep paying them and perhaps getting so extraplaying time over there will spotlight a couple of them for further consideration. Just one guy's opinion.
March 9, 200718 yr Lovely, that explains why I didnt see Aaron today . Argh... Maybe i'll send him the picture.
March 10, 200718 yr Hey Holly.....Aaron is still around, he's just playing on the Roger Dean Auxilary Fields now. I'm sure you can find him there as well as Tucker, Marceaux, etc... Word is ...... Volstad will join them after his Saturday start vs. Dodgers

Just one guy's opinion. Seabol actually has the potential to be a decent utility bench player this year. He hasn't been all too horrible in spring training. He's decent in the speed department also so he could be utilized as a PR. I'd like to see him stay with the club and possibly get a few spot starts. He's a decent utility infielder. If he is utilized like Eric Reed was last year, I'll be pleased. Other than that, I agree with you.
March 10, 200718 yr The line I love is "reassigned RHP Travis Bowyer..." as if he's actually playing this spring. I understand it's purely a rules thing but I found it funny nonetheless.
March 11, 200718 yr Hey Holly, The Fields behind Roger Dean Stadium are use for several reasons. here are a few: Pre game warm-up and BP for the daily games at RD Stadium. Practice and drills for all players Minor league players play there spring training games there.

I have a few pictures for him to sign and I have no idea if I can make it to the back fields anytime soon.
March 12, 200718 yr Minor ST games and most practice sessions are open to the public. There is usually a small set of bleachers at each field.
