May 24, 200719 yr Rotoworld started a widget service that allows you to add widgets for your favorite teams to your blog, websites or myspace page. To grab the Marlins widget above just grab the following code and place it somewhere on your site... You can grab these for any team by just sorting the news stories by specific teams. The widget option appears on the right. Just putting it out there, seems very nice for webmasters and myspace users.
May 24, 200719 yr that is so sweet. is there anyway i can put this on my desktop? you know so when i start up my computer it pops up or something? is this possible?
May 24, 200719 yr Author that is so sweet. is there anyway i can put this on my desktop? you know so when i start up my computer it pops up or something? is this possible? Yeah you can. In Windows XP right click on the desktop and choose properties like you were going to set a new desktop wallpaper. Choose the customize button and then click on the Web tab. In this section click on New... and load the attached file I have attached to this post. It includes the code for that widget. The Widget should now appear on your desktop on top of your current wallpaper. Let me know if you have any problems. EDIT: Uploaded the fixed file and it now works. The security of the message board disabled the code in the html file that was originally uploaded. The file is now in a zipfile with proper code. Enjoy!

With what program? BTW I'm working on making a Vista Sidebar Widget for this.
May 24, 200719 yr Author OK I had some time at work today to putz around. I made the Marlins widget into a Windows Vista Gadget for your sidebar. How do you guys think it looks? I resized it so it was still readable and didn't protrude too much over the sidebar. The scrollers and links on the widget all work. If you guys like it I will upload the gadget for everyone to download...

May 24, 200719 yr Author I have vista and I would love that gadget One person with interest is good enough for me. In order to install this (since I had no time to make a installer package) just drop the whole folder from the .rar file into the following directory... c:\Users\\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets Grab the file from the rapidshare. http://rapidshare.com/files/33192743/Marli...gadget.rar.html Enjoy and if you need any help please let me know. that is so sweet. is there anyway i can put this on my desktop? you know so when i start up my computer it pops up or something? is this possible? Let me see if I can come up with a better html file to have it embed on your desktop a little better. Remember your not trying to save the HTML file as your new wallpaper. You want to load it as a web item to display on your desktop. Try these intructions from M$ How to Add an Active Desktop Item to the Desktop An Active Desktop item is simply a Web page. It can contain active content that can change, such as a stock ticker or a weather map. To add an Active Desktop item, follow these steps: 1.Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Display. 2.Click the Web tab, and then click New. 3.If you want to use an Active Desktop item from the Desktop Component Gallery on Microsoft's Web site, click Yes. If you want to use a Web site as an Active Desktop item, click No, and then either type the Web address for the Web site you want to use, or click Browse to search your hard disk. I used these exact steps on a windows xp machine here in the office and it worked fine.
May 24, 200719 yr Author I use Firefox and had trouble as well. Must be a Firefox thing. Your browser has nothing to do with it. Unless your just having problems seeing the widget on this website, that's a flash problem.
May 24, 200719 yr Thats pretty sweet.. but cutting rotoworld out of my life takes like 1 of 5 websites away that i use on a consistent basis. I need the satisfaction of clicking it on my favorites damn it! We could almost just pin this thread since that widget keeps updating
May 24, 200719 yr Yeah, I got the same error as all the aboves with the html widget thingy. edit: got it to work, but no idea how to attach files. edit2: Try this link for the widget on desktop using the instructions given above, it didn't give me any errors when I used it http://rapidshare.com/files/33201634/marlins.html

I know what happened now. The IP.Board security disabled the code in that html file I had originally uploaded and inserted its own error code. I attached both working files now. The Vista Sidebar Gadget and the Windows Desktop Widget via Active Desktop. Enjoy!
