Marlins Designated Hitter. . .

What the hell? MINDSET? GIMME A DAMN BREAK!

A hitter is a hitter. They just don't play defense. What the hell was that all about.

Mindset... Pfft.

Hey I am telling you that young guys some times have trouble DHing becuase they are not into it. Look at Frank Thomas, he doesn't have the mind set to be a DH, his OPS is 100 points higher when he plays the field, becuase he can let go of bad at-bats leasier and stay loose. Trust me, DHing isn't as easy as it looks, you need to be able to forget bad at bats while sitting on the bench, which is a hard thing to do.

if you screw up at bat you can always make up for it on th field, much like D Lee and Sea Bass often do. when you DH your entire game revolves around hitting and hitting alone. thats gotta change your mindset in some way.

I don't think you've seen the Marlins play. They can care less about all this DH crap. They just want to win and they'll anything. If they can bounce back being 10 games under .500, down 0-4 in a game and 1-3 in a series, I'm sure they'll come back after one lousy at bat...

you are basing a mindset on the marlins once being 10 games under .500?

No I haven't seen the Marlins play this season, I was watchin my Sox. But I have seen how the DH works, been watching baseball and mostly AL baseball for over 20 years now. I have seen National League teams screw up in who to put there.

well think about. you screw up at bat once and instead of going out and playing some D you sit in the dugout and think about your next at bat. i'm not saying that the marlins cant overcome that. the obviously have shown that they can over come anything. i'm just saying that it is quite different from batting as a starter

Pitcher AB > DH

Anyday of the week and twice on Sunday

We should put encarnacion in the DH role since he hasnt played. He is also a good curveball hitter so if we face Boston...Martinez, and Burkett love to throw curveballs. The yanls have a few also. Enc would be perfect.

I think it all depends on the pitcher and its more than great that we have a lot of options.

Finally a voice of reason in FishFan#1. What wrong with you people? You guys must have shortesrt memory span ever. I think Conine did throw out the runner out at home in game 4 in the league division series. He also robbed a could have been homer in the series also. Cabrera lacks the experience in the outfield right now and if you have a choice of still keepin his bat without benchin him you put him at DH not conine or encarnacion. So think before you speak(bandwagoners)

better not be talking about me punk...you gotta be ignorant to make a comment like that because both Cabrera and COnine have played fantastic in the outfield and we each have the right for an opinion with out having ignorant marlins fans like you to flame at them.

I know everyone is having fun arguing as we always do, but.....

Has anyone stopped to think "Damn man, I can't believe we actually get to argue about this!"

yes i have stopped 2 think that we get 2 argu about this

were in the WS

its October and were using the Marlins in a sentence!

our season isn't over yet!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think everyone is missing a major point regarding LF. If the Red Sox win there is NO WAY that Cabs will play in front of the Green Monster in left. Conine will DEFINATELY start in left as he has played there before. Either Lowell or Cabs will DH.

You can put that in your pipe and smoke it Ramp :p

:hat

1. Juan Pierre, cf

2. Luis Castillo, 2b

3. Ivan Rodriguez, c

4. Miguel Cabrera, 3b

5. Derrek Lee, 1b

6. Mike Lowell, dh

7. Juan Encarnacion, rf

8. Jeff Conine, lf

9. Alex Gonzalez, ss

I don't know if the positions are right (I'm betting they are), but man, that lineup is killer.

Looks good to me

looks good to me...

well whenever you have those people in a lineup it has to look good!

Lowell should definitely DH...come on, niner has been incredible in LF, and Cabs has done some impressive s*** at third. Enc has played consistently through the year, and he's a great defensive player, as was demonstrated in game 1 in SF.

DH: Lowell :thumbup

after giving this some thought i believe that mike lowell would be the best person for DH. he has done more with the bat than with the glove lately. not that he can't handle third, i mean he is part of the best double play combo in baseball. but the damage that guy does with the bat is going to help us win games.

Mikey and Jeff would be the best two, mentality wise. And since Mikey has been coming off the bench as recently as the NLCS, he still has the make everything out of your at bats mentality. Perfect for the job IMO.

who cares, thats for Jack to decide anyways, aslong as we have Lowell, Encarnacion, Conine, and Cabrera in the line up.
