The Return of Josh Johnson

As the Florida Marlins take on the Chicago White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field, June 18, 2007 at 8:11 p.m.

Preview: Speculation abounded on Josh Johnson's future after being taken out of a game with an arm injury in September of 2006. How serious was the injury? Would he need the services of Dr. Andrews? It looked like he was ready to come back strong in 2007 until Spring Training when he faced another setback ? an injury to a nerve in his right biceps.

The long wait is over. Johnson, the ace of the the Marlins staff in 2006, returns to the mound tonight to face the Chicago White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field. Arm healthy, Johnson is coming off two strong rehab starts in the minors. He looks to take up where he left off in 2006, a season which saw him finish with a 12-7 record with a 3.10 ERA and 133 strikeouts in 157 innings pitched.

Johnson, known for stopping skids in 2006, needs to stop the Marlins bleeding once again in his first start back with the big club. The Marlins are coming off three consecutive series losses, including most recently a series against the Kansas City Royals. The Marlins face a White Sox squad that has struggled mightily in June, losing 12 out of 16 games this month.

Team quotes:

JJ on rehab and tonight's start ? "Every day was another day closer to where I wanted to get, which was up here. So that's how I approached it, and it finally came."

"I am going to go out there and try to give my team a chance to win. That's all I'm trying to do. [i'll] try to go six [innings], try to get a quality start out of it and see what happens."

Dontrelle on the last time the Marlins were at U.S. Cellular Field, during the 2004 Wild Card playoff hunt ?

"We were just glad we got to play. We didn't want to get three or four games behind and have a bunch of doubleheaders. We were just glad we got to play."

"There weren't a lot of people there, but they were excited to have the games. There were some good games, and there was a mixture of White Sox fans and Cubs fans. It was good, though. It was a good improvise for the situation."

Wooo JJ's back!

just a note Jacobs 1 for 1 with rbi so far in jupiter can't wait tell he is back

For those wondering why tonight's game starts at 7:11 CDT instead of 7:05 CDT, it's because 7/11 has a deal with the Pale Hose.

7:30-7:35 start time per the Sox head grounds crew man.

And jesus that ho on comcast is hot.

And jesus that ho on comcast is hot.

So we may have two rain delays? This is like deja vu all over again. This time JJ better not be coming out to pitch again if there is a second delay.

By the way, FSN needs to get some new rain delay material. These Inside the Marlins clips have been done to death.

man, who do i root for when the sawx play atlanta? i guess i root for boston...but its like rooting and saying "hey...im glad we bought that guy"

Here we go.

How unprofessional is it for announcers to refer to a team as we? Christ.

:lol These guys are such dbags.
