June 19, 200718 yr Large teams of newly trained suicide bombers are being sent to the United States and Europe, according to evidence contained on a new videotape obtained by the Blotter on ABCNews.com. Teams assigned to carry out attacks in the United States, Canada, Great Britain and Germany were introduced at an al Qaeda/Taliban training camp graduation ceremony held June 9. A Pakistani journalist was invited to attend and take pictures as some 300 recruits, including boys as young as 12, were supposedly sent off on their suicide missions. The tape shows Taliban military commander Mansoor Dadullah, whose brother was killed by the U.S. last month, introducing and congratulating each team as they stood. "These Americans, Canadians, British and Germans come here to Afghanistan from faraway places," Dadullah says on the tape. "Why shouldn't we go after them?" The leader of the team assigned to attack Great Britain spoke in English. "So let me say something about why we are going, along with my team, for a suicide attack in Britain," he said. "Whether my colleagues, companions and Muslim brothers die today or tonight, every drop of our blood will invigorate the Muslim (unintelligible)." U.S. intelligence officials described the event as another example of "an aggressive and sophisticated propaganda campaign." Others take it very seriously. "It doesn't take too many who are willing to actually do it and be able to slip through the net and get into the United States or England and cause a lot of damage," said ABC News consultant Richard Clarke, the former White House counterterrorism official. http://blogs.abcnews.com/theblotter/2007/0...sive_suici.html
June 19, 200718 yr Cookie-cutter conservative - "We have to fight them over there, or else we'll be dealing with them at home!" Actual terrorist - "These Americans, Canadians, British and Germans come here to Afghanistan from faraway places. Why shouldn't we go after them?" :confused
June 19, 200718 yr Author That sounds like a cookie-cutter liberal response! C Wut I Did Der? I lol @ anyone saying we shouldn't be in Afghanistan right now.

Actual terrorist - "These Americans, Canadians, British and Germans come here to Afghanistan from faraway places. Why shouldn't we go after them?" :confused Come on dodge you know better than that. A cookie-cutter conservative is a pure isolationist. I know its a semantic argument, but word choice is important.
June 19, 200718 yr I'll rephrase that from "Cookie cutter conservative" to "I regurgitate whatever our fearless leader, President Bush says" :thumbup
June 19, 200718 yr That sounds like a cookie-cutter liberal response! C Wut I Did Der? I lol @ anyone saying we shouldn't be in Afghanistan right now. I don't think anyone says that.
June 19, 200718 yr ....so what did that have to do with this article? N/M, if you don't get it, you don't get it. And no, I don't know of anybody who says we shouldn't be in Afghanistan. In fact, I hear more often than anything that we should have finished what we were doing there and left before taking on another invasion.

Did Dodge not say something to the effect of us being over there is what would potentially bring them here? Edit: Apparently not, but his first post absolutely makes no sense in accordance to this article. It's cool though because I don't, "get it". :lol
June 19, 200718 yr Did Dodge not say something to the effect of us being over there is what would potentially bring them here? The basis of my statement was to point out the irony of what I hear so often from the Administration and those who are suckers for it.
June 19, 200718 yr Author ....which makes no sense in an article about suicide bombers from Afghanistan, especially after you put how you believe we should be there and should 'finish' the job there. Man am I sick of the intellectual superiority trip that liberals are on. "Suckers for it". Man, I don't subscribe to a lot of Bush's policies and I don't take 'offense' to that but man posts/comments like that burn my ass.
June 19, 200718 yr I think Dodge is just commenting that it's a dumb slogan. and hey that must be a fun graduation ceremony to attend.
June 19, 200718 yr As I said, I was not actually disagreeing with you, nor the fact that we need to be in Afghanistan. Rather, I am just bringing up a common catch phrase that is repeated over and over, and exposing the irony of it. The fact that we are fighting terrorism overseas does not mean we are safe by any means. You're tired of liberals? Ok, even though I wasn't talking to you or debating with you, that's cool, I'm tired of shallow, mindless partisanship.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....i would have never guessed it since 2000...thanks bush...way to piss off the world!
June 19, 200718 yr This was just a big show most likely. If they actually intended these individuals to come onto US soil and blow themselves up, they wouldn't put them on video available to US authorities.
June 19, 200718 yr I would say it is horrible news if true, and second I would say find out where that camp is and bomb it back to the stoneage.
June 19, 200718 yr I'll rephrase that from "Cookie cutter conservative" to "I regurgitate whatever our fearless leader, President Bush says" :thumbup The basis of my statement was to point out the irony of what I hear so often from the Administration and those who are suckers for it. Those are honestly the type of things I would've expected jimmyjack to post. And I don't think there have been too many administrations in recent times that have actually been at odds with their political base as much as this one.

June 19, 200718 yr Since you are emphatically liberal, yes, to many people, you are wrong before you even speak. I'm not really liberal or conservative but it's odd how my displeasure with the status quo makes me a liberal to some of the conservative posters.

I'm not really liberal or conservative but it's odd how my displeasure with the status quo makes me a liberal to some of the conservative posters. im not emphatically liberal...personally...i think they should put the head of the leader of each party on a stake, put it in front of congress and tell them to work together or else...i go against what many republicans say because its complete bulls*** before they even open their mouths..."iraq has wmds" me- "bulls***"..."9/11 was partly saddams doing too" me- "bulls***"..."we did everything we could to help the people of the gulf coast as soon as humanly possible" me- "bulls***"..."the terrorists will follow us here" me- "bulls***...you know why you crazy redneck a**hole president..."BECAUSE THEY ARE ALREADY F*CKING HERE"...and want to kill as many of us as possible because of your brilliant take over the world strategy of foreign policy...sorry...while many on this board see me as a liberal...im not...but i do believe we the American people need to call out our politicians when they lie to us, when they steal our tax money to hold a privatized war while a legitimate war is left unfinished and forgotten, when they dont do their f*cking jobs, they make our lives more difficult...and i thought the whole purpose of progress throughout human history was to find ways to make our lives easier, not harder...and unless you work for halliburton, the time on this earth you have spent since bush became president probably isnt as good as it ought to be or could be

June 20, 200718 yr Alright, I unfairly paraphrased this: Man am I sick of the intellectual superiority trip that liberals are on. Sorry dood.
June 20, 200718 yr I agree that if this video was not staged (even though most evidence points in that direction), it was stupid for them to have clear pictures of every person who attended that 'ceremony'. I also think that it would make sense to devote a lot more resources to Afghanistan, once we withdraw from Iraq. That country is on the verge of returning to the terrorist haven it was before the 2001 invasion.

I also think that it would make sense to devote a lot more resources to Afghanistan, once we withdraw from Iraq. That country is on the verge of returning to the terrorist haven it was before the 2001 invasion. See thats the problem I have with these types of statements. No Afghanistan is not on the verge of returning to the terrorist haven it was before the invasion. The main reason is because Afghanistan has always been a loose confederation of tribes that has at times drawn together or been drawn together forcibly by a central power. It won't be easy for a taliban type government to take over again, the reason they did in the first place was b/c after the Soviet occupation, there was a period of extensive civil wars and people thought the taliban would put a stop to the disorder. The majority of people there know better now. In fact, soon we'll be able to withdraw from there with only a small presence left. Americans really need to start using sources alternative to media sources. Regardless, in a way I almost agree with Jimmy. Except that the terrorists don;t hate us any more or less because of anyting Bush has done (unless you mean Bush senior). They've hated us for a while already, really since we started supporting Israel if not sooner. All that Bush II has done with his actions if give the terrorist leaders more tlaking points for recruitment.
