June 20, 200719 yr I know what you are going to say. That I'm crazy for proposing an idea that we trade both Willis and Cabrera, but here me out. I have two seperate trades, both to the NL West that would send Cabrera to the Dodgers and Willis to the Rockies. Trade with LA Dodgers LAD Get: 3B Miguel Cabrera IF Robert Andino FLA Get: C Russell Martin SP Chad Billingsley RP Johnathan Broxton IF Wilson Betemit OF Matt Kemp Trade with Colorado Rockies COL Gets: SP Dontrelle Willis P Reynel Pinto FLA Gets: 3B Garret Atkins CF Willy Taveras SP Jeff Francis RP Ramon Ramirez minor league prospect Jeff Baker These two trades, at least in my mind, make sense baseball wise, but not business wise. What do you all think?
June 20, 200719 yr Those would both be great trades for the Marlins but the other teams would tell you to @#$% off.
June 20, 200719 yr I would do the Willis trade in a heartbeat, but not the Cabrera one. He should be our franchise player if we are smart enough to sign him long-term.
June 20, 200719 yr I'm just trying to imagine the conversation with this hypothetical dodgers trade. Ned: I don't know if I can do that. I mean, Miggy is great, but one of the best young catchers in baseball, a future top of the rotation starter, a future stud closer, a nice platoon/bench infield bat, and a young outfielder who will probably turn into an average starter is a really steep price to pay when I already have Andy LaRoche who is 23 and has all the tools to turn into a middle of the order bat, and a 22 year old in James Loney who should be able to handle 1B for quite a number of years. I'm sorry, I have to decline this. Admin: I see your point, How about if I throw in Robert Andino too? Ned: OMG WHERE DO I SIGN?!?!?

Martin, Billingsley, Broxton and Kemp.... all part of the same stacked AA Jacksonville team just a couple years ago. They were amazing, were named minor league baseball team of the year.... and it was just last year that Kemp hit a grand slam off Anibal in AA
