July 1, 200719 yr Every team should have a player. No major league team is without an All Star. But Tony LaRussa was pitiful in picking players to meet the cap. Dmitri Young? Brian Fuentes? Typical sh*t from LaRussa. Fuentes wasn't the Rockies only All-Star. Dimitri Young is hitting .340. What is wrong with him being the Nationals rep?
July 1, 200719 yr Every team should be represented. The only way I'd be against it is if the fans don't vote for the starters. But, seeing as they do, it can't ever be a true 'all-star' game. Which is why all teams should be represented.
July 1, 200719 yr all-star (?lst?r) - One chosen for a team of star players. Again, don't call it the All-Star game if it really isn't.
July 1, 200719 yr I'm glad ESPN lost the selection show rights. BBTN is a wasteland. Arguing over Reyes vs. Rollins. What about Hardy, Hanley, and Edgar? Sneering at Fish fans over the fact Wright got in over Miggy....at least Miggy was close. The All Star Rosters this year weren't bad, it should provide a good game (that hopefully the NL can win)....but ESPN just rubs it in your face that you are not a Mets/Red Sox/Yankees fan or fan of team du joir that got lots of votes. When was the last time a starter was All Star MVP again?
July 1, 200719 yr Im going to go out on a limb and guess Wright gets 3-4 at bats again this year. The face that Cabrera is the only 3rd baseman is awful. Cabs should be only allowed to pinch hit and not play the field. Nothing about his defense is all-star.
July 1, 200719 yr Im going to go out on a limb and guess Wright gets 3-4 at bats again this year. Likely with lameass LaRussa managing. Likely another AL win too.
July 1, 200719 yr all-star (?lst?r) - One chosen for a team of star players. Again, don't call it the All-Star game if it really isn't. In that case, we should just take the "stars" of the league and not factor in numbers.
July 1, 200719 yr Im going to go out on a limb and guess Wright gets 3-4 at bats again this year. Who cares? Makes him more of an injury risk. I'd rather none of my players play and get a little extra time off. what should we call it then? I assume you are asking me and I have no clue but don't 'falsely advertise' when the game isn't what it is supposed to be. Name it The Best Damn MLB Exhibition Period for all I care.
July 2, 200719 yr all-star (?lst?r) - One chosen for a team of star players. Again, don't call it the All-Star game if it really isn't. In that case, we should just take the "stars" of the league and not factor in numbers. You know what it means, star status is made by production. I'm so glad Mark Redman made it last year so Royal fans could be 'included'. I'd be embarassed if my team sucked so bad that a rule had to be made so we could have a forced 'all-star'. If my team had no worthy players then they shouldn't have any all-stars. Next.

If my team had no worthy players then they shouldn't have any all-stars. Next. Mark Redman is a rare example. Who were the guys that were the lone all-star reps this year? Griffey, Crawford, Jenks, Sanchez, Meche, Young. Out of all those guys, the only one that you is really snubbing somebody else is probably Michael Young. Young is having a good year, and I don't bat an eye that he is in the ASG. The problem isn't that every team is represented, it's the fan voting.
July 2, 200719 yr I actually thought the AL fan voting was good this year the only change that should be made is Posada over Pudge. Jeter and Ortiz starting is iffy, but a case can be made for them pretty easily.

Aside from that one catch that is played over and over on ESPN(which has given many the misconception that Wright is good), Wright is at best average defensively, but in reality a little below. Cabs is just kind of hefty. His cannon makes up for range that isnt too bad.

July 2, 200719 yr TBS handling this very nicely...much better than they handle Braves Baseball games. If TBS is kicking it up a notch for MLB telecasts compared to the Braves telecasts, we should all be very happy with TBS. TBS is to MLB what TNT is to the NBA. The Hawks used to be on TBS Superstation before the NBA banned Superstations (WGN only gets 15 Bulls games they purchase for national cable distribution) like the Braves are now. MLB going the same way with TBS now making all these changes....WGN's baseball days may be numbered. when did the nba ban superstations? i guess that's when tbs starting doing weekly telecasts on tuesdays before the current nba deal (which is dominated by espn garbage). and i'm still mad at tbs backstabbing braves fans like this, then stepping up coverage now with the braves gone. ugh. but tbs is much better than espn in coverage of national teams. i hate the all star game...it's just a disappointment for the al to win every year. why not just make it a rule for the al to have home field? if they win it again, i'm staging a protest...
July 2, 200719 yr i was think next year this show was going to be on tbs. so this year their have show??? i wont be supprise if all star game will move to tbs later like nba all star did moving the all star game to cable will all but kill the all star game. I'm glad ESPN lost the selection show rights. BBTN is a wasteland. Arguing over Reyes vs. Rollins. What about Hardy, Hanley, and Edgar? When was the last time a starter was All Star MVP again? agreed. espn is just a northeast network now, and pretty much if you don't like the northeast, you don't care. just wait until tbs has their own nightly highlight show and bring bad harold.

Why? It would still air. All the other major sport all-star games are on cable.

Wright is above-average. He's better, but it's not like he's light years ahead. If Cabs shed 20 pounds (LOLZ) he'd have the potential to be gold glove caliber imo.

Why? It would still air. All the other major sport all-star games are on cable. and have since fell into obscurity compared to their pre cable editions. nba all star game? it's dropped. and besides, unlike the other sports which air during febuary sweeps, baseball easily wins ratings battles (or should) against reruns of what the other networks put on, because between june-september, it's reruns.
July 2, 200719 yr I guess I don't understand why it would matter. As long as I can easily find it on the TV, why should I care if Major League Baseball stands to lose money? The All-Star game's ratings will continue to go down for a few reasons the main being that in the past the All-Star game was a way for fans to see players that they normally couldn't see. With MLB.tv, EI, nightly highlights, that isn't an issue or even a consideration anymore. Plus, Fox has horrid baseball coverage. sh*tty announcers, lame graphics, annoying sounds. I'd be all for a change.
