July 25, 200719 yr Maybe im dumbing this down way too much.. but he was drafted 22nd, not 5th. He gets 22nd overall money, not 5th overall money. No matter where you think you should have been drafted, you were drafted 22nd so you get 22 money. It doesnt (or atleast shouldnt) work like that.. and the logic is laughable. I'm sure everyone in the draft thinks they should have been drafted higher.

July 25, 200719 yr I have no problem with it. Skill players deserve the big bucks. It's not just about 22nd overall, it's also second QB taken. I'm sure that his agency has a wonderful chart showing the money doled out to the top 3 QB's taken in the last 10 NFL drafts, adjusted for 2007 dollars and have it considerably higher than 22nd slot money. Plus, in the case of Brady, the Browns showed he was a unique player as they unquestionably overpaid for the 22nd pick on draft day.

If you do wow but I think most people do not. Channing has started to make a name for himself in this league by doing what rookie and 2nd year players should do..work hard, play hard, be respectful. Brady only has the heisman runner up going for him. Right now he isnt participating in TC, and isnt being respectful to the fans or the team. You cant expect to get top 5 money when you go 22. The dolphins QB coach, I wanna say terry shea? worked out Brady the months leading up to the draft...If he was all that and a bag of patato chips the fins would've taken him at 9, but he isnt.

It's not so much that these players expect big contracts right off the bat. Rather, the NFL contract format is so horrible that for alot of these players this will be the biggest contract they ever get. Given the likelihood of injury, the way in which a team can just cut you from their roster at any time, and the lack of guaranteed money, wouldn't you want to cash in as much as you can before any of those risks come into play? Not saying it's right, just saying it's understandable.
