July 28, 200719 yr The Rays just traded Ty Wigginton to Houston for Dan Wheeler, shortly after scratching Wigginton from the starting lineup. Wheeler, who made 30 appearances for the Rays between 1999 and 2001, was 1-4 with a 5.07 ERA and 11 saves in 45 appearances for the Astros this season. He walked 13 and struck out 56 in 49 2/3 innings. http://www.tboblogs.com/index.php/sports/related/C142/
July 28, 200719 yr That's actually a relatively win win trade....Rays need bullpen and the Astros need a bat.
July 28, 200719 yr Author That's actually a relatively win win trade....Rays need bullpen and the Astros need a bat. Exactly what I was thinking. Wiggington is a good guy to have on your team. You can put him anywhere.
July 28, 200719 yr Brilliant trade for both sides. Tampa Bay gets pen help, Houston gets a decent bat with second baseman capabilities. Nice work.
July 28, 200719 yr So the Rays should be excited about getting a bullpen guy with a 5.04 ERA? I mean, I know their bullpen is horrible, but I think they could have got more for Wiggington.
July 28, 200719 yr maybe the rays will turn around a trade reyes now ...i hope so because he is on my fantasy team and at the rays current pace he will be hard pressed to get another 10 saves this year

I was merely throwing an opinion into the hat. And for your information. Wigginton hasn't been all bad through his career. He has a lot of eligibility on defense and he's an equally decent first, second and third baseman. Not to mention that he's coming off of a .275/.330/.498/828 year, his second best career year at the plate. Just because he wasn't a God when he came up with the Mets doesn't mean he sucks. Take off the orange and blue colored glasses and try again.

July 29, 200719 yr I was going to say "now we get to see him more often" which would suck, but we play the D-Rays and the Astros just as much as the other, I believe.
July 29, 200719 yr Wheeler only has one year of service time left so not too good if they aren't able to lock him up for a few more years. Expecially considering the Scott Proctor talks (3 years of service time after this year), though word on the street was Proctor would cost more then just Wiggy. So, whatever.
