October 19, 200322 yr Alex certainly has had some trouble with getting hits for the last 2 weeks, but he should benefit from the DH games when he gets a few more strikes. Besides, the Marlins pitchers have a great deal of confindence due to Alex and Luis behind them.

October 20, 200322 yr Author Maybe I'm wrong. His clutch defense really came in handy during the 6 - 0 route. Alex Gonzalez 2003 postseason: 4-43 (.093 Ave) 10K .114 OBP .140 SLG% He strikes out 2 and a half times more often then he gets a hit. Puke.

But he made zero errors all year and banged a couple of HRs so far. Can't sit Lowell again. Can't sit Conine. That leaves only one choice: Move Cabrera to SS NOW. Sea Bass has not hit Mussina well in his career, BUT he is 4 for 10 vs. Clemens. So, let him sit G3 and bring him back in G4. Sit Lowell against Clemens, who apparently owns Lowell. October 20, 200322 yr While Sea Bass's defense is being hyped here, I saw a stat tonight that showed that the Marlins have turned exactly 4 DPs in 11 playoff games so far (vs. 14 for the Yankees). Sorry. That does not constitute a reason to keep him in the lineup. Cabrera for SS in G3.

Good luck running on Posada... Pierre *just* beat his throw and that was only because his throw was a bit high. Nobody else on your team [or in baseball for that matter] has that kind of speed. If you try running on Posada, you'll be running yourself out of games because they'll be toast - ask the Bosox [5 strike em out throw em out DP's this post season].

There is supposed to be a decent SS prospect in Triple A who they expect to play with the big club next year...Can't say I'd be too upset to see him go....

October 21, 200322 yr Defense is what got the team here. Why change it now against a team that can put the ball into play? Mordecai's range is below-average. Cabrera might be a decent option, but I'd like to see how he does for a few innings against big-league hits into the hole before starting him there.
