Yeah, the buzz this has generated and the fact that he has been a major talking point the last three days and him being the top story on Drudge really shows what a weak move it is. Weak would have been debuting on the debate tonight that means nothing and will have a smaller audience then Leno does.

Mccain's already done it on Letterman and we know it's coming, so why not appeal to your conservative base that sees you as their savior and do it somewhere in the heart of south or something. He already has the cover of Newsweek so he doesn't need the pub but the fact is the only chance he has is if he gets conservatives excited and appealing to your Hollywood past is not going to do it. Reagan submerged himself into the heartland in 79/80 I don't know many good ole boys who are part of the Leno crowd.
September 6, 200718 yr He's undermining the other candidates in the debate. He's late to enter and still is outshining every candidate. Part of Thompson's persona is being laid back and 'real' and few better places to do it then in an atmosphere like The Tonight Show. It's a much better plan, exposure wise then doing it mid-day at some cattle ranch or some public building nobody cares about where it is nothing more than a foot note. I don't know how you can say he won't be plunging his campaign in to his base. He will be doing exactly that starting tomorrow. He is going to be hitting Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Florida, and then Tennessee. In a very much grass root's style. If Thompson loses, it won't be because of his campaigning it will be because the money runs out.

I am not a supporter of Ron Paul because he simply wants to withdraw from Iraq, in fact, I have no problem with us staying in Iraq (not that my or YOUR opinion truly matters in this topic). I am a supporter of Ron Paul because he is bringing "new" ideas to the campaign of less government and less taxes. I own a business and this matters greatly to my every day life. I want someone who will spend the HUGE amount of money I give to the government in an efficient manner. At this point, Ron Paul is the only candidate I trust with my money. He has shown that he is fiscally responsible and won't blow my money on needless government programs. Please, I implore and beg you to give me one reason why I should trust Fred Thompson with my money more than Ron Paul. What does Fred bring to the table?? I beg (and truly hope) you for an answer, but I am confident you will not have one, and that is the problem and the reason I support Ron Paul. All I want is less government. Anytime I have to deal with the government it's not a fun experience. The IRS, the DMV, the dept. of education that has the children in this nation ranked so low compared to everyone else. The FBI, CIA, dept. of security that we spent BILLIONS on but FAILED us in a miserable way. Failed us on 9-11-2001. I spend my money to protect the people in this nation and they failed us. Guess what? I don't trust a big government anymore. You do. Good for you. I trust myself and want someone to lead this country who believes in the people, not the elected - douchebag - ACTOR - politicians who are all the same cookie cutter SOBs. Rudy, Romney, Fred, Hilary, Obama, Edwards they are all the same A holes.
