September 29, 200718 yr I never thought this guy would become so good so fast. I would've thought it would have taken at least another year to get where he is, but the guy has already become a top player not in just the National League, but in baseball. And the scary thing is he could get even better.
September 29, 200718 yr Author I guess the question is are you surprised at how fast he has progressed in just his second year?
September 29, 200718 yr The only thing that surprises me is the error totals on this year. But with Perry leaving at the time he did... It's an excuse. But I'll take it. One dinger away from that 30/30 mark and only the 2nd Marlin to achieve it. Two doubles away from that 50/50 mark. I'm greedy. I want both.

He has become one of the top 5 offensive players in all baseball.

September 29, 200718 yr It's easy to fixate on Hanley's offense but it should be noted his defense is at last showing some improvment, perhaps not league average yet, but certainly is a step up since the ASB. The big improvements in this team have come not so much by players being better at what they were already good as doing the things they weren't doing well, better. As the season comes to end there's a number of bright spots on this team and the overall defensive improvement from Hanley, not that he's anywhere near where he can be, is certainly one of them. It's another step in process from the overhaul in 2006, *is* the cream is rising to the top.
