Xbox 360 .vs Playstation 3

Featured Replies

Now that the Playstation 3 has been out for about a year, and the Xbox 360 has been out for almost two years ; which one do you guys prefer best?

Halo 3 copies have some bug in them where they f*** up your 360. Unbelievable, really. And this is no contest. The Nintendo Wii 0wnZ both of them.

If you want good games and challenges get the 360

If you want to have fun and enjoyment, get this Wii

If you want Metel Gear Solid 4, get the PS3

360 I think is the general concensus, but all the systems have their perks.

If by "general concensus" you mean "being hopelessly outsold by the Wii".

Console Units sold Units shipped Date

Wii 10.7 million 12 million September 13, 2007

Xbox 360 8.9 million 11.5 million July 31, 2007

PlayStation 3 4.28 million 6 million September 20, 2007

Yes, the Wii is outselling them all, but with a price tag of 250$ and the fact that it's a cool little system helps.

But Xbox isnt far behind, but the ps3 is.

XBox all the way though in terms of games and functionality Vs. the PS3.

The Wii for the most part is a gimmick. There are only a few games that actually are fun to play all the way through. Just look through the catalog of games, the majority are mini-games that have you wiggling the control as fast as you can basically.

Your best bet is to look through the catalog of games already out and coming out and see which system appeals to you most. In my personal opinion, the 360 is the system to get right now. In the future that may change but for now 360 has the best games around.

Yeah I agree, i love my 360. If the prices drop during christmas for the PS3 I wouldn't mind purchasing one though.

Well it was kind of out for a whole year before the Wii and PS3 so they had more time to release games/work on games. Also, when you look at games being released that will appeal to everyone, Nintendo wins. I really thought the PS3 would be the system to get but when they revealed that price, they screwed themselves.

Heh, the questions directed toward this message forum was 'which do you prefer'?

Not which one is cheaper, or which one would your parents prefer playing?

The Wii is awesome, ill probably get it sometime, i dont know if im getting the ps3 though, soon as they drop the price of the blu-ray player, you will see ps3 sales go down, and with it a massive price drop.

Well in all fairness, the 360 was full of crap games until Gears of War came out last year. It always takes a system a year to a year and a half to get that one solid "must have" game that drives every one to pick it up.

I think though that the one, huge major advantage that the 360 has over the Wii is Xbox Live. The community that has been built over the last few years with it has been absolutely amazing and I doubt if Nintendo or Sony will be able to match it any time soon. It adds so much more to the 360 games that the Wii and PS3 just can't offer.

call of duty 2 anyone? it was game of the year...and i loved it...and there were other really good games that came out too...none come to mind at the moment but there was...and gears of war is terribly overrated IMO...i mean really...how many times do you have to shoot someone in the face to kill em...and the multiplayer was fun and exciting for about 3 game before the novelty of using a chainsaw wore off...

but you hit the nail square on the head about xbox live...it really is a community...and like their slogan says "its good to play together"

Original, exclusive games are what sells systems. Yes COD2 was great, but it was also a PC, PS2, GC and the original Xbox as well as the 360. It can be argued now that Gears of War was a little over rated (not by me, I really enjoyed it), but many people still share the view that GoW was the first "must have" game for the system.

Not to get too far off topic, just my opinion.

*Edit* I just remembered that the COD2 that was on the PS2, GC & Original Xbox were different than that COD2 that appeared on the 360 and PC. So I take back some of what I said. ;)

I don't see how Gears of War is overrated. It's innovative, intimate and probably the most fun online game that XBOX has (more fun than Halo I think, but Halo has so much more diversity in their online options)

ok...maybe not overrated...but def overhyped...and while the campaign was pretty fun...multiplayer is what gets me to stay around for a game and the multiplayer seemed empty to me

Ya the campaign wasn't that great. If you watch the specials with Cliffy B, he explains that they were on such a tight schedule, and Bill Gates wanted the game out at a certain time, that they couldn't make it as extensive as they wanted.

And I'm still waiting for them to release new weapons/game modes for the online version. That will definitely make things interesting.
