November 13, 200718 yr According to the Miami Herald, the Marlins may look to shop Dan Uggla in addition to Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis. The newspaper suggests that by dealing Uggla "the Marlins might be able to meet some of their needs," which include pitching and center field help. The team is said to be interested in Howie Kendrick in a potential Cabrera deal with the Angels, which would push Uggla out of the second base job.
November 13, 200718 yr We cannot get better if we lose Dan Uggla!!!! This is pure salary dump, next Loria is going to fly the team plane into an ocean so he can collect insurance.

Not really man, Uggla is not making much next season. He only earned $392K this season. He's not going to make much more than that next season.
November 13, 200718 yr Either way, it wouldnt be a salary dump. Not like Cabrera and Willis. Uggla makes peanuts.

November 13, 200718 yr You know...if Kent doesn't come back to the Dodgers, package him with Cabrera and get Hu+Loney? Hu+Ethier, move Willingham to first? Basically gut the entire Dodger's farm system :mischief Loney might be a bit much but you know they'd probably start Nomar at first over him anyway...

No. They're trading Uggla because the best piece they can get back in a Cabrera deal is a 2nd baseman who OPSed at .767 during his time in the big leagues (which amounted to a full season at around 600 ABs). The FO's natural reaction is to trade Uggla because he blocks this dynamo. :|
November 13, 200718 yr Isn't Hu an awesome defensive shortstop? I dont have his bobblehead, but he was impressive almost every time I saw him play. And yes, great D at SS
November 13, 200718 yr Basically gut the entire Dodger's farm system It's not like they use them :cool

November 13, 200718 yr Im confused, so you people think I was being serious up at post #3? I know you were being sarcastic, but from my take you were making fun of people who are opposed to trading Cabrera.

November 13, 200718 yr Isn't Hu an awesome defensive shortstop? Hanley has played second in the minors :mischief
November 13, 200718 yr Author Does anyone think they might try and talk to Lowell's agent about coming back? For the right amount off-course (which is not going to happen)
November 13, 200718 yr Im confused, so you people think I was being serious up at post #3? you people? I hope that means people that enjoy a nice pie Mainly people like Willis #1, who while responded very nicely, assumed I was retarded. I believe those who like pie understand that I too like pie.

Look, if he performs like he did in the minor leagues that's obviously fantastic. But if the Angels thought that was the case, why wouldn't they just keep him instead of Cabrera?

November 13, 200718 yr Well my point, Beef, is that if the Angels thought he would reach the potential he had in the minors (where he OPSed at .970 for his career) why would they trade him? My contention is that we'll never see the Kendrick we all hope to. And we'll be lucky if he hits at Uggla's level.
