November 27, 200718 yr mike hampton, everyone's favorite pitcher that has done nothing for over two seasons has another injury. i personally think his career is done now, he's getting to be a high risk physically and we're not sure if he can even pitch again. now the braves rotation goes down a few notches due to the setback. The Braves left-hander injured his right hamstring in the first inning of his first start in the Mexican Winter League last week. He left after one inning, and it's uncertain if he'll pitch again this winter. "We don't know when he'll come back [in winter ball], if at all," Braves general manager Frank Wren said. "There's only four weeks left in the season, and hamstring injuries usually take a while." Hampton hurt his right hamstring when he came off the mound to make a play near the end of the first inning Thursday. He tried to keep his leg loose and come back for a second inning, but the pain worsened in warm-ups before the inning, and he left the game. Wren said Hampton called him Friday and told him the bad news, and the GM was informed by trainers that the muscle had "bled out," usually a sign of something more than a mild strain.
November 27, 200718 yr This guy has dealt with more injuries than any one guy should have to deal with.
November 27, 200718 yr I thought Carl Pavano was everyone's favorite pitcher who has done (basically) nothing for 3 years now.
November 28, 200718 yr First off, all this dude needs to do is get in shape. He is out of shape! He is in his late 30's! How is he suppose to stay healthy under the conditions he is in. Start running, do something. Look at Griffey, great shape, but still gets hurt, what to expect from a over weight aging pitcher?
November 28, 200718 yr since when is Mike Hampton considered out of shape? I've been saying it. They were talking about it on ESPN yesterday aswell. The guy needs to condition himself. He has not pitched a full season in how long? He needs to get back into game shape. Hit the treadmill, condition himself to be a pitcher! He is not in very good shape. Is that hard to see?

I haven't heard a word about Hampton in a while, so I didn't realize he turned into Mo Vaughn
November 29, 200718 yr Thank God, Finally! That is the biggest embarassment of this franchise, and trust me there have been quite a few
