The intentional walk, followed by bringing the infield in was weird. If you're going to load the bases for the best double play combo in baseball, why play in? To get the out at home? You could have done that without the force. Pudge is an excellent catcher and could have applied the tag. It was a risky move. It may have even been a mental slip-up. But thankfully all worked out well.

 

It is called Pressure. Remember McKeon managed Boone before and knows some of his weaknesses if we execute properly

 

There was also where Lee was playing two nights ago. Protect against the extra-base hit! Though, if I were in that position I would have moved the outfield back before covering the lines. But McKeon did neither against a player who had been dangerous all night and has a history of being able to put it down into the corners.

Like Lee said, they played on the line twice during the season and both we LH hitters. Did you get this from Macgarver on TV. Funny thing is that in the Yankee bottom of the eighth, their 1B did not play on the line either

 

And the removal of Beckett when the only player who had hit him was the best hitter of the opposing team. He's your ace. Unless he's in trouble or he tells you he can't pitch, you go with him. Because there's no one better you could put on the mound. Sure, Beckett's speed was down a bit, but it was also when he was blowing strikes past Sammy Sosa in the 9th inning of his shutout and his 4th inning in Game 7.You play to win the game! Beckett has pitched a lot and like Pavano, we will need them later. I bet you and others would be the first to b*tch about leaving them in for 130pitches as well....get a life

 

You could see it in his eyes during the pre-game 1 press conferences. He was happy to be here. He was ecstatic to be in the World Series. He's delighted to be able to manage the All-Star game next year. That's not the McKeon we saw before.

Yes, we're 2-2. And we have a pretty good chance at 3-2. And 4-2. And 4-3. But we have less of a chance if McKeon can't get past his emotions and concentrate, if that is what is happening that is. Get real, 72yrs old. Emotions, I doubt it. Concentration- Do you know the man?

I didnt say UUU sucked.... I said he has been pretty bad in the postseason(especially when the Marlins lead by 3 or less)

Absolutely !!! Great post ! Jack has forgotten more about baseball than all of us collectively will ever know. I said a month ago, I refused to second guess Jack no matter what. He's the guy who got us here. He knows these guys firsthand, their strengths and weaknesses and we don't.

 

For example, the BBTN crew was saying that the reason Weaver was feeding Gonzalez in the eight hole so many fastballs was between Enc was coming up behind him. Why? Because when Jack did his doubleswitch he didn't place the pitcher in the ninth hole he put Enc. That meant instead of breaking balls and sliders Alex got a pitch he could hit.

I think we would not made it this far without Mackeon... Not that we do not have the talent... The man just broke them out. I do not care if we all disagree with his moves, because one way or another they pay off. The man trusts these guys are good... So should you! We would have probably crucified him as well if Josh would have remained in the game and gave up more runs... Whatever, what is done is done and now we are even...

Pressure? That it led him to make that mistake? Or that he was willing to take the risk to push Looper (who hasn't proven himself this postseason) the extra level? That might make sense, if not for pulling the infield in. You're then forcing Looper to pitch to two batters. I'm sure McKeon knows better than me. And the Marlisn scouts know better than me. But how can somehow tell that Aaron Boone is prone to hit a fast groundball straight to on of our infielders? Or that Aaron Boone AND whichever pinch-hitter would come next would strike out and pop-up? Call me a 'f***ing resentful Cubs fan turned bandwagon fan' or whatever is slur is popular now, but I seriously doubt that's what happened. McKeon made a mistake. He made an error. He's not infalliable. Maybe just that one time. Thankfully it didn't hurt us. But I think it says something about McKeon's decisions this World Series.

Didn't know that about McKeon's defensive arrangement. Does he move the corner infielder to prevent the pull-hitter? I think that's bad mistake against the Yankees. Got to give them respect. They are professional hitters and can go the other way just as easily. Also the Yankees have the best scouts in the world and probably knew that Pudge, Miggy and Lee are gap hitters.

I'd rather be take the chance with our best pitcher on the mound, than a bullpen that has not performed well recently. Obviously pitch counts matter. But Beckett was only at 108 pitches. 12 pitches to finish out the inning would ahve been no problem.

I understand the criticisms against Baker and Little for not using their bullpens, but it's not the same. Little had a good bullpen. Baker never gave anyone but Farnsworth and Borowski a chance all season.

That's not how it looks. Did you see McKeon micro-manage like this in the regular season? I don't live in Florida and didn't get to watch every game, but of the games I saw he didn't.
