Yeah, because it worked SO well for the Panthers to be up in Broward....If I remember correctly, Huizinga was pushing them to move there, since that was where their fan base was....They have not drawn well at all since the new arena was built there....Can't wait to see the Marlins playing in Miami!!

I agree with ya. I'm not real enthused on the location, but I'm not going to pout about it (okay, maybe a little). That's the only city and county that was willing to step up, so it is what it is.

Compared to the rest of the league, their attendance may not be the best, but it isn't bad by any means. As for Huizenga's reasons, they had more to do with the bottom line than with location. And he was right -- for business, the Miami Arena was a terrible venue.

Agreed on both points. Panthers attendance is pretty much in line with the rest of the NHL. Any drop off in attendance has more to do with the fact that they haven't made the playoffs this decade, not because of location of the arena.

 

As for the location of the Marlins stadium. It has always been very simple...Miami was/is willing to partner with the team and Broward was not. Don't get me wrong, personally I'd love for the a stadium to be built in Broward, but that was simply not to be. So now I will support the team anywhere they build it as long as it is in South Florida.

We keep jumping back and forth on if we will keep our season tickets after the announcement is official or just get one of the mini plans. Right now I am back to waiting at least one year after the new pond opens to see how the driving time/conditions are. I would hate to give up the equivalent of our seats and then find out it isn't as bad as I imagine it will be.
