Morgan's comment on Hanley

Featured Replies

Nice thing to say, but its basically what most people say about Hanley. Its not exactly something you have to research into :)

defense ?

he's not bad defensively...he's just lazy defensively. For some reason, he takes a REALLY long time with his throws. If you look at it, most of his errors are LAZY throwing errors...also the fact that Mike Jacobs is pretty mediocre at 1B doesn't help, either.

However, he can still improve a bit defensively. He's a 30-30 guy, who one day could be a 40-40 guy. Special ballplayer. The guy isn't even in his prime years yet. Just special.

Hopefully, Maybin is his clone :thumbup

you better hope Maybin plays better defense than hanley after two years in the pros.

I love hanley but if you think "he's not bad defensively" you may want to rethink that.

what he hits, 30-30 40-40 100-100 has nothing to do with bad D. you don't play defense with a thirty-two inch bat in your hands although sometimes it looks like he is.

will he get better. of course. is he good now? no. was he good this spring? no. he was better but he still isn't "good".

it takes nothing away from hanley that objectively speaking he needs a lot of help.

Some of his "bad defense" I attribute to a lazy, unpredictable 3B. Some I attribute to lack of concentration, which IMO is a youthful trait. When he keeps his concentration you see things like that series in LA last year. As he matures we will see THAT Hanley. This kid will be pulling in Silver Sluggers, GGs and MVPs. And there is little doubt in my mind the Marlins break "tradition" and sign him long term next off season.

haha gotta love the George W K zone...sorry off topic

I enjoyed seeing Bush interviewed and announce a little of the game for 2-3 innings. I thought he did a good job. I feel more comfortable with him being at a baseball game rather than doing any more goverment work.

Yea was sweet

I thought it was great that he was in the booth and appeared to be "just one of the guys" having a conversation with friends about baseball while watching a game. The conversation, the body language, and the facial expressions just appeared so relaxed and free flowing. It was an interesting side of him to see and made me feel as if I could have sat in that booth with them and just jawjack for a few innings. It was a nice touch.

On the flip side of that coin... I thought it was VERY uncouth for those fans that heavily booed him when he was tossing the first pitch. My wife even commented on it. IMO, a bunch of hypocrits that preach political correctness and then stoop to the level of bringing their political feelings/garbage into a sporting event that was both a celebration of an accomplishment the city and the fans made by opening a brand new ball park and the start of a new MLB season.

But that's just my opinion.

Couldn't have said it any better. To see our president just hanging out and talking baseball was awesome. Love or hate him, to boo him throwing out the first pitch in the new stadium is wrong. The day was intendend to be about baseball, a new park in DC, president throwing out the first pitch, and half the crowd boo's. Politics aside, atleast cheer for the game/moment. O well, don't want to make this a political thread.

We don't need to make it about politics... we can make it about how our division rivals have classless fans
