March 31, 200818 yr If anyone is watching the Braves/Nats game right now, you would of heard what Im posting. Anyways...they were talking about Zimmerman and how he was the only rookie to have over 100 rbi and finish second in the ROY voting. Morgan says that was because of Hanley, who he thinks could be the best player in the National League. He praised him, saying how he has a great combination of speed, power, defense, etc. It was just nice publicity to see Hanley get, and I though ya'll might like it.
March 31, 200818 yr I heard that. I was expected him to say something like this "Too bad he is on the Marlins".
March 31, 200818 yr Just heard that and came here to post. Unbelivable praise. We're really lucky to have Hanley. If by some miracle he's here when we open the ballpark I'll get his name and number tattooed on my back.
March 31, 200818 yr If we could just keep him, and if Maybin develops into the player they say he can be, we will be the next NL kings.
March 31, 200818 yr defense ? he's not bad defensively...he's just lazy defensively. For some reason, he takes a REALLY long time with his throws. If you look at it, most of his errors are LAZY throwing errors...also the fact that Mike Jacobs is pretty mediocre at 1B doesn't help, either. However, he can still improve a bit defensively. He's a 30-30 guy, who one day could be a 40-40 guy. Special ballplayer. The guy isn't even in his prime years yet. Just special. Hopefully, Maybin is his clone :thumbup

I love hanley but if you think "he's not bad defensively" you may want to rethink that. what he hits, 30-30 40-40 100-100 has nothing to do with bad D. you don't play defense with a thirty-two inch bat in your hands although sometimes it looks like he is. will he get better. of course. is he good now? no. was he good this spring? no. he was better but he still isn't "good". it takes nothing away from hanley that objectively speaking he needs a lot of help.
March 31, 200818 yr did anyone hear john kruk saying what a shame it was the marlins had to trade cabs.... and that the fans better support the team or else the franchise will move! :chair :guillotine :kicknutz

And yes I know all about the range numbers, so I know where you're coming from. As for Maybin, scouts project him as a very good defensive CF'er. Some say gold glove. Again, these are projections, but it's good to hear, imo. :cool

March 31, 200818 yr haha gotta love the George W K zone...sorry off topic I enjoyed seeing Bush interviewed and announce a little of the game for 2-3 innings. I thought he did a good job. I feel more comfortable with him being at a baseball game rather than doing any more goverment work.

March 31, 200818 yr www.firejoemorgan.com This cannot be stressed enough. As a Reds fan growing up I just can't bring myself to hate him. I know his "analysis" leaves a lot to be desired, but I really don't think he's that awful. Listening to Rich Waltz all season, most people sound like heaven to me. Besides, that site is run by Red Sox fans. :thumbdown
