April 17, 200818 yr i cant see him putting up anywhere near those numbers...but then again...i think he will be a bust What was your opinion of Adrian Peterson coming out then? Because McFadden gives you similar running styles (though AP is a bit better) better receiving skills, and less injury risk? What about McFadden gives you the idea that he'll be a bust? I'm genuinely curious. AP injuries were generally...freak injury kinda stuff...but AP runs with a little lower center of gravity and has alot more strength overall...he can run by, around or over you...DM can can run by you, but he will get pummeled by nfl linebackers IMO
April 17, 200818 yr I would have liked to know WHY he doesn't want to come here.. Gee, I dunno. Perhaps because they finished 1-15 last year? last year is done and over with...parcells is notorious for turning teams around...i think this is another smoke screen of some kind

Secondly, they're nearly identical physically (one inch in height and 7 lbs), and McFadden outperformed EVERY one of AP's combine drills except for the vertical leap http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/profile.php?pyid=56491 http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/profile.php?pyid=58020 Sans the foot shuffling problem (which I'd never heard of, not discouting it, just saying), this is what the scouting report said on him 107 of his 309 non-touchdown rushing attempts saw more than one defender being needed to take him down? I think it's bogus that you would say that D-Mac is gonna have any more problem with NFL LB's than AP did

It was said that because he ran so high (i.e. kept his shoulders up and exposed) he took too many direct hits and, as a result, suffered injuries (the collarbone thing). Many people didn't think he could survive running in the NFL that way, or at least have long, sustained success. Whoops.

One season isn't "long, sustained success" also, it helps having one of the best o-lines in the league, when you're almost untouched for the first 3-4 yards, LB hits become less the problem they are ordinarily Also, I forgot to kinda laugh at the "alot more strength" overall... he's no Vernon Gholston, but the dude is plenty strong
April 17, 200818 yr actually didnt AP injure his shoulder while diving into the endzone?...and on further review...he did... and that picture of DM doesnt prove a thing IMO...muscles doesnt equal strength or else brian bosworth would have been the best lineback ever!

The picture was for effect... stat saying 1/3 of all non-TD runs REQUIRED MORE THAN ONE PERSON TO STOP HIM was supposed to prove that he's strong...

Hell, Peterson got hurt last year too. Personally I think AP is going to be an Eddie George type - not in style, but in that he's awesome for about 5-6 years but takes too much of a beating to have a long career. AP, like Eddie, runs extremely high for an NFL RB. That said, I'd still take him. All NFL RB's, with the exception of like 3, are fungible. A RB's success is largely dependent on the offensive line. Even Chester Taylor was successful behind that offensive line last year, and both him and Purple Jesus did everything with 16 guys in the box thanks to Tarvaris Jackson's and the Vikings WR's "ability." So, uh, I don't really disagree with anything you said there. My beef was with someone saying Peterson runs with a low center of gravity, which is approximately 0% factual.

Yeah, I see that, I just wanted to clarify what you meant by sustained success... and it appears that we're on the same page with most everything here, including the importance of the o-line. :thumbup
April 22, 200818 yr Author As to reports the Dolphins are nearing an agreement with Jake Long, NFL Network's Adam Schefter says the sides are "closer," but wouldn't characterize them as "close." Schefter says talks will continue and the Dolphins hope to have a deal laid out by Saturday. He adds that if Long and Miami can't come to terms, they may also have a hard time signing a fallback option like Matt Ryan or Vernon Gholston because all three have the same agents. Rotoworld. Heh.
