so back when we got Conine, the following said this....

The bottom line, people, is that the Marlins aren't serious World Series contenders, and don't even have much of a chance of getting into the playoffs this season now that their all-star 3B is hurt. Jeff Conine won't help so much that he will single handedly put the Marlins in the playoffs, where Lowell will return and lead them to a title. The Marlins had a ton of other options that would still help almost as much or maybe more than Conine would and still preserve their future with a great young pitcher.

i feel like dying

omg

rip of the CENTIURY

THIS IS DISGUSTING

OMG

HORRIBLE

IMMA GO TAKE A WALK

personally i dont think we were in such a horrible plight that we NEEDED to get Conine

This hits the nail on the head. Conine isn't going to perform that much better than Hollandsworth or Banks would have. And we gave up our best pitching prospect to get him! This is such a horrible trade.

those were just some comments on the day of Conine arriving for Bautista and Levinski.... I guess the trade worked out eh?

this was a post in late june....

Besides all the injuries to our pitching staff through out the season our pitching has incredibly remained steady all the way. It has been the key to the team's success as of late. However, the way things have looked in the later part of june I think we have come as far as we would.

Pavano, who had been a pleasant surprise is starting to break down. It's been a while since the last time he gaves back to back solid performances. Now I have doubts every time his turn is up in the rotation. Today was the third dreadful performance in a row for Brad Penny, a guy who is supposed to be top of the rotation caliber and I'm equally as unsure when he pitches as when Pavano takes the mount. Beckett is coming back on tuesday, but after such a long layoff what can we expect? He's going to be rusty and will miss spots and against a Braves lineup that has be tearing it up all year it can't be good.

Thankfully Redman and Dontrelle have been solid and given us a lot of good innings. They form a 1-2 combo that so far is 2nd to none in the National League. But without an unspectacular offense, a bullpenn that leaves a lot to be desire and rotation that seems to have lost its touch the future does not seem to bright.

some thoughts when we acquired Uggy

OMFG I hate this trade so much :( :banghead . Not only did we Trade Gonzalez but Will Smith also? WTF this will go down as the worst trade in Florida Marlins History. Glad to have the 4 ERA on board :thumbdown . I am sure we are getting more than just Urbina :banghead :banghead :banghead

overpaying? sure

but the FO is showing all these bandwagon hoppers that we want to win NOW

not in 2007

Who cares about the bandwagoners our farm system is going to be depleted. We could of at least got Benitez for that deal. WTF I am in shock, how stupid is our GM? Don't go back on your words if the Marlins lift the World Series trophy.some foreshadowing by Juanky eh?

good s*** eh?

:lol :lol

That trade argument was the first one I participated in on this board. Glad I was right about it.

our GM is a total idiot... he would fit in nicely on this board :lol

good s*** eh? I know I made a mistake in what I said, but I for one will not go back on my words.

I remember I was ecstatic when we got Urbina.

And I was originally against going after Conine (I thought we should have gotten someone else), but when we did, in fact, get him, I didn't mind a bit.

Conine made a difference and so did Urbina. Those who said Conine was too old or too slow or too bad with the glove got proven wrong on all counts.

Matsui is older, Conine ran pretty well around the bases and in the outfield, and the Phillies can tell you what the bad bad man did with his glove to them.

"But guys, think of how good we could be in 5 years with those PROSPECTS!"

we might be able to finally win back the World Championship with those prospects in a few years. wait... i believe we already did.

i dont remember my exact posts but i wasnt happy when i heard what they gave up for Urbina and Conine. ah well, its great being wrong

Obviously someone knew what they were doing :w00t :thumbup :whistle
