Scott McClellan's New Book

Featured Replies

Anyone have thoughts about Scott McClellan's book about the White House? I'm personally glad that he wrote it, but I certainly don't forgive him for sitting there and doing nothing while all of this crap was going on. It was also not reassuring to me that he only became offended when he discovered that Karl Rove and Scooter Libby had lied to his face about their involvement in 'Plamegate', and THAT was his reason for exposing the White House's crimes. :thumbdown

I'm glad that he wrote the book. Whatever the tipping point was for him, to me is irrelevant. It often takes time for a whistle-blower to come forward. There's a whole process that they need to go through. I also don't blame him, or any of the other press secretaries from this or previous administrations, for sitting on their hands and in effect perpetuating the lie as it happened. That's the job description of the press secretary. Perhaps he should have resigned earlier, but with his close ties to Bush from his Texas days, that was a scenario that undoubtedly caused him many sleepless nights. In the end, as far as I'm concerned, he's a patriot, in the true sense of the word, unlike the ill-worded Patriot Act.

It would only be fitting if there's one day a huge Bush library, built with Halliburton money, that contains just 1 book.

Well, the George W. Bush Presidential Library is going to be built at Southern Methodist University (SMU). They were the only school to accept the offer. That will be the location from which Dubya will continue to spin his presidency in a positive direction.

:banghead :thumbdown That's not good news.

My nephew graduated recently from SMU Law School. And he's Jewish. And that's Texas.

I know from personal experience that it's nearly impossible to come forward while stuff is happening. First, you get discredited. Second, you get 'reassigned'. And then, when the stuff leaks, you are made to look like an idiot and a disgruntled employee.

Maybe that's because he was forced to resign?? It's all about revenge and money. His reasons are many, but none have to do with him being a patriot. He was basically (forced to resign) fired, the RNC didn't support his mothers campaign in Texas, and he gets to make a profit. He's a modern day Benedict Arnold as far as I'm concerned. All of the stuff in his book, (from what I have seen on the internet because I haven't read the book) are the same old dumb accusations and speculation from the last few years. I haven't seen anything new.

You don't think that maybe, just MAYBE, with so many people saying the same thing, that they just might be true?

Would've preferred him to resign in protest at the time actually. Would've made a bigger statement.

As penguino said, he's a bit late to the party.

I certainly didn't need him to convince me of anything, but if the book manages to break a few people out of their trance, go for it.

Better late than never I suppose.

Title should've been "What You Already Knew"

.You forget that this is supposed to be a government of, by and for the people, and that the truth is supposed to matter. Mr. McClellan is being denounced as a traitor by those who readily accept the culture of deception, and who believe that a government official?s primary loyalty is not to the people, but to power itself ? in this case, to the president.

That's my point, that his resignation back in 2005 or 2006 would have been a big story.

Although, so far this book has become a headliner since the networks first got their copies.
