Post Game 6/29

Wow...you know what I just realized?

The 1st half of the season is over.

If you would've told me we would have a 42-39 record, at worst 2 games back of 1st place, at the end of the 1st half this year...I would've been pretty happy.

And I am very happy with those results... if anything we know we could have won a few more.... second half of the year should be good.

Brian Runge needs to be suspended fired and i think he will be

Fixed. :D

Once again not literally but I luv you louie!!!! :D

My thoughts:

It's Hanley Ramirez's world, we're just living in it. But seriously, he has shown this year that he is ready to be a leader on this team. Uggla has been too, but Hanley's impressed me with his maturity (anyone see Jose Reyes' tantrum the other day?)

Scotty....hang in there, buddy. Doing a good job.

We won in spite of the most inept umpire I have ever seen. Runge, I believe, is a third-generation umpire, so it is questionable how he managed to pass umpire school. Missing a ball four call is unacceptable, even if it went in our favor. That's just as bad, if not worse, than the atrocious ball-strike calls he made. At least he didn't chest-bump Fredi.

And finally, it was good to see Jeremy get that double after earning a golden sombrero. I believe he was swinging on all four of them. (Last year, Todd Linden earned a sombrero, but he was caught looking each time.) But seriously, Herm...run it out even if you're not sure if it's fair or foul.

To be honest, he was terrible to both teams. The Az dugout was hollering at him as well. And he did reply to them a couple times. I was very surprised he didn't eject Jake. Maybe he's just a little triiger-shy after that suspension. I think everything finally got to Jake tho. He's 3 for 23 on this homestand, it was a hot day on the field, he was defensively out played at his position when Cantu was over there and the rumor mill is at full tilt with his trade rumors. Looks like it all added up. Funny part was Sign Guy held one up after that call that said "Try Lazik." And I was wearing my "Hey Ump" t-shirt that I got in Copperstown. Very fitting day to wear it. It has an ump on the front wearing dark glasses, holding a red tipped cane, leading a dog. And on the back it has about 40 different things to yell at an ump.

But when we were leaving the game a friend called us and said that Tommy had mentioned during the broadcast that someone should send a tape of this game to MLB for their inspection of his calls. Is that true?? Wouldn't be such a bad idea.

I enjoy reading some of the thread on the board, if the team lose two games, we are readyto trade everyone, send down this player, bring up another player, fired Freddie, win one everyone is a hero, the team is great, come on people stop being a weather vane, we are going to win some and lose some, just hope we win more than we lose.

The ump was horrible on both sides and he should be suspended for forgetting the pitch count on the one at bat. With that said, I wish FSN would buy k-zone or whatever that thing is that about half the other teams have that has a rectangle of the strike zone and where the pitch was. A lot of times a pitch will appear to be low because of where the catcher caught it but that means nothing. In the one pitch yesterday where Tommy was going nuts when they put the replay from the side it looked like it was at the knees making the pitch a strike.

I forgot about that. The scoreboard showed 3-2 before the pitch, then after the ump said ball 3, and then the player flied out. Who was right? Did they show pitch by pitch on TV? I listen to the radio during the games while at the stadium and they weren't sure, or didn't clarrify it anyways.

Yes, the ump blew it.
