Marlins interested in Willy Taveras?

if willy is hitting the way he is in coors field...imagine him in dolphinstadium

Actually, the short fences in Coors are bad for all hitters except power guys.

Coors is actually one of the larger parks in the league. It just doesn't always play that way.

cody might not be your typical CF with his speed but he gets nice jumps out there to cover real estate in Dolphin Stadium

Taveras might cover the same ground but he takes bad routes and makes it up with his speed...

cody is also a much better hitter even though he is streaky

if he is cheap it might be good to have the extra outfielder. Especially with speed. Unless we can get maybin up as the 4th guy later in the season.

we already have a 4th man in Gonzo

We have 6 guys that can play OF. He is crappier than crap taking a crap in an outhouse made of crap.

lmfao dont kno how he even made it to the majors last year

The pitching situation is far from worked out. We could use some bullpen help for sure. Another starter as well, in case someone struggles or someone gets hurt.

With Sanchez due back at the end of the month, we're going to have an overcrowded rotation as it is. Why on Earth would we need another starter?

and Mitre should be coming back in August

You're making the assumption that everyone returns healthy and pitches well. This is the ideal situation, but not too likely.

Let's see.....

Nolasco

Olsen

JJ

Miller

Volstad

(Mitre)

(Sanchez)

Hendrickson

Tucker

I think we might have a couple of guys that could start if the injury bug bites us again

you can take Hendrickson off that list he can't pitch to save his life

Taveras is someone you can buy low on. I would rather have him on my bench than Andino.

Taveras:http://colorado.rockies.mlb.com/stats/indi...&statType=1

Andino: http://florida.marlins.mlb.com/stats/indiv...&statType=1

i wouldnt andino is better defensivly and has started to shag fly balls in center

Taveras stats are better because he has had more abs

Which statistic is the best indicator of defensive success? I honestly don't know. I generally base my opinion on things written by people with a much better understanding of "numbers" than myself. And I've always read that Taveras is a solid defensive CF with a strong arm. I like Andino, but I feel better having Taveras backup center than a guy learning the position. Amazing becomes your fulltime utility IF. And having Taveras/Ross makes you OF very flexible. You also add a guy to your bench that is excellent at swipping bags. A nice luxury if you can get it. JMO.

thats what I was thinking. You are going to move some guys, he is going to be a cheap pick up. Defense is key and so is speed. You never know when you need it late in a season.

a la David Roberts 2004

He will work well in the pen, and as injury replacement #4 we could do worse.

Ross is better at bat.

Ross is better in the field.

Ross is probably even more fun at parties.

Since Taveras is from the DR, he's at least 2 years older than Ross.

The team has 6 players that can play OF.

When did I compare Taveras to Ross?

When did I compare Taveras to Ross?

Didn't say you did, but spending anything on a marginal player with little upside that would barely play is just bad. He isn't worth the roster spot, much less anything that he would cost.
