July 30, 200817 yr Dan Uggla. he has been big so far but ever since the break he has been struggling. you can see it by the swings he is taking and he doesn't look confident. Is this something to worry about? I can say i get nervouse now seeing uggla at the plate when the game is on the line. Uggla is one of my favorite players but i am facing reality. What do the fans say do you think he will snap out of it or come back to reality and continue being the .250 hitter he was?
July 30, 200817 yr Although it's hard to realize this, given our record, and yadda, yadda, yadda, most of our bats right now are in a really bad struggle that's been going on for a while now, I think since before the All-Star break.
July 30, 200817 yr I think it's back to reality. He isn't making the adjustments he needs to make. Since the week before the Philly series he hasn't made the adjustments.
July 30, 200817 yr He is due to break out of it i don't know if the Derby messed it up since he was using Cantu's bat but he will break out of it
July 30, 200817 yr Reality. He has a really long swing. He's an all or nothing hitter, except unlike the idiot at 1B, Uggla actually shows more patience at the plate.
July 30, 200817 yr I think it's back to reality. He isn't making the adjustments he needs to make. Since the week before the Philly series he hasn't made the adjustments. I'm not sure he knows how to. I read an SI article about him a month or so ago. He was quoted at saying he doesn't even know what kind of pitch (fastball, slider, etc.) he hit out of the ballpark a lot of the time. Isn't that odd?
July 30, 200817 yr Uggla won't ever be able to hit for a solid average unless he changes the way he swings. His swing is terrible and is almost always for power. I love Uggla and if he leaves I will follow him on another team. For now he is still on the Marlins but he has some serious work to do in order to become a consistent solid hitter.
July 30, 200817 yr Author yea but when uggla was doing so good so was the team and i had so much confidence in him but now....
July 30, 200817 yr He's been making much better contact as of late, and I agree, he is due to break out. And as someone else pointed out, the entire team has been slumping. It's amazing we've been able to do what we have done since the AL break.

It's amazing we've been able to do what we have done since the AL break. I know this may sound a bit repetitious, but we won't be able to win enough games to make the playoffs if we don't start to hit better. We will eventually break out and start hitting better, it is really just a matter of when.
July 30, 200817 yr I'm not too concerned about it. Is it annoying as all hell that he is slumping right now when others are too? Hell yes. But I think once he catches fire again we will barely even remember this rough patch.
July 30, 200817 yr He is due to break out of it i don't know if the Derby messed it up since he was using Cantu's bat but he will break out of it It started before that. He's been cold since he came back from his injury and I don't think it has anything to do with Cantu's bat.
