2008 Florida Marlins

June 3rd: NL East - 2.5 GB (2nd) Wild Card - 2.5 GB

July 3rd: NL East - 2.5 GB (2nd) Wild Card - 4.0 GB

August 3rd: NL East - 2.5 GB (2nd) Wild Card - 3.0 GB

September 3rd: ???

:gofish

Notwithstanding the Wild Card...all that stat says to me is that the Marlins are always hovering at the same "just barely" mark... they simply fail to exceed anything...they've seemingly hit a glass ceiling...when will they get really hot and break through?

In September... when it counts the most!

Just keep hovering and then strike! If you'll permit me an example from my other favorite sport, long distance running, it's better to draft on the leader and then beat them in the home stretch than have the added pressure of having and keeping the lead for the entire race. A marathon is 26.2 miles, but the first 26.1 mean absolutely nothing if it's a close race.

As frustrating as some of these losses may be, all we have to do is stay close enough! Being 1st in the division in the middle of August doesn't get you into the postseason!!

maybe I worded that wrong but... the bottom line is, we've been 2.5 behind on all three of those days posted...

Where's the progress? There is none there...sorry

I know, I was just kidding...All I was saying is that if I were asked at the beggining of the season if I wanted the Marlins to be 2.5 games back this late into the season, I would have taken it in a heart beat.

That by and far is the biggest problem, the team doesn't appear to be ready to strike. They've not put together a great run all season and it seems difficult to grasp that they can just turn on a switch and all of a sudden distance themselves from the rest of the teams in the NL east.

September 3rd: NL East - 0 GB (1st) Wildcard (We're first in the NL East)

i hope so!

come on guys show a little faith ;) let's trust our team and go out to the ballpark and root for them...it's august so more people should start going.
