October 30, 200323 yr Didnt baseball start in 1900? The American League started in 1901, the National League started in I believe 1876, if not, sometime during the 1870's, which is why the National League is known as "the senior circuit."

The American Association was a precursor to the AL and a few of their teams still exist, including the Cincinatti Reds, St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburgh Pirats, and Los Angeles Dodgers.
October 31, 200323 yr 1885: Chicago (Cubs) of the NL tied the St. Louis (Cardinals) of the AA lol could not even win back then
November 1, 200323 yr could it have been earlier than 1876? that year sounds right but lets remember that in 1994 Major League Baseball celebrated its 125th anniversary (with a strike, but thats another story)
November 1, 200323 yr could it have been earlier than 1876? that year sounds right but lets remember that in 1994 Major League Baseball celebrated its 125th anniversary (with a strike, but thats another story) That would be 1869 if it was in 94. Then again, the Marlins celebrated there 10th anniversary season this year and it really was number 11...
November 1, 200323 yr The Cincinnati Red-Stockings were actually the first professional baseball team, after they debuted in 1876.
November 1, 200323 yr Remember that the AL didn't really exist until it's flagship team started play in 1901. That team was the Boston Pilgrims. The AA merged into the NL, that is why so many AA teams are now NL teams.
November 1, 200323 yr Author could it have been earlier than 1876? that year sounds right but lets remember that in 1994 Major League Baseball celebrated its 125th anniversary (with a strike, but thats another story) Well, the Cincinatti Reds (Red Stockings) formed in 1969, and that was the first OFFICIAL professional team. They weren't in any league until 1876 when they joined the NL, and then joined the AA in 1882, and back to the NL in 1890

November 1, 200323 yr It was the 11th season, but the tenth year. When you are counting seasons you have to take the first one into account as well.
November 1, 200323 yr Author but by 10th anniversary, they meant it's been 10 years after the team formed. If you got married a year ago today would today be your second anniversary since it's the second year you're married?
