What's with all the hate on the WS all the time? Is it because they aren't "OMFG HAWT HAWT HAWT"? I swear to God sometimes people don't even care about their actual skills. Plus, gotta root for the US whenever possible. They're ALL we have when it comes to tennis. Roddick is garbage, LOL Blake, Davenport is done soon, we got some young people too but they aren't winning anything any time soon, and everyone else isn't worth mentioning. People need to stop hating on the WS for no reason.

Anyway, Daniela Hantuchova went down so another hottie is eliminated. Ivanovic struggled to get by that Russian girl whose name I forgot too. Spadea almost upset Safin and Gasquet DID get upset by Tommy Haas. I actually called that one but didn't type it anywhere. Sam Querrey won in straight sets. Pretty fun day so far.

I really don't have much of a problem with Venus, but I can't stand Serena... it seems like every time she loses it's because she was playing hurt or some other lame excuse... because it's obvious to everyone she's not hurt when she's playing... I remember a fiasco at Wimbledon where she made it seem like here leg was shot but still hit a 100+ mph serve, which anyone that plays tennis will tell you is next to impossible...

Venus just plays, no excuses, no gloating... and she's good...

Lol @ Michael Wilbon. During the big finish they asked "Ivanovic was taken to a 3rd set by the 57th ranked player, surprised?"

Wilbon: "No, she played in the Olympics. All those girls are tired."

Except she didn't.

Your dead on balls accurate with Serena. She has no class whatsoever. And when she loses she always blames it on her poor play and not her opponents good play. I am just tired of her antics, and her flashy earrings and her poor attitude!

That's fine, I don't hate people who like her, just Serena herself.

To anyone that hasn't seen the commercial yet:

And after yesterday...

Mens:

Seeded players advancing: Roger Federer(2), Fernando Gonzalez(11), Fernando Verdasco(13), Ivo Karlovic(14), Tommy Robredo(15), Igor Andreev(23), Paul-Henri Mathieu(24), Andreas Seppi(31)

Seeded played eliminated: Richard Gasquet(12), Nicolas Kiefer(20), Tomas Berdych(22)

Womens:

Seeded players advancing: Ana Ivanovic(1), Serena Williams (4), Dinara Safina(6), Venus Williams(7), Agnieszka Radwanska(9), Agnes Szavay(13), Flavia Pennetta(16), Alize Cornet(17), Nadia Petrova(19), Nicole Vaidisova(20), Alona Bondarenko(27), Ai Sugiyama(30)

Seeded played eliminated: Daniela Hantuchova(11), Virginie Razzano(31)

To anyone that hasn't seen the commercial yet:

Hahaha I love that commercial.

I also love the fact that they make the Manning bros act just like the guys from "Step Brothers" in every commercial theyre in. Too damn funny.

My tennis crush Maria Kirilenko gets ousted in the first round. I hope she doesnt turn out to be an Anna Kournikova type of situation.

First of all, I've had "dibs" good sir!

Secondly, and seriously, that's a pretty good comparison, Makiri is a good doubles player but is very underwhelming in singles at times...

As for the open finals... I honestly can't say for the first time in a while... there's a pretty good list of players (men and women) that could walk away with this thing

Hahahaha MAAAAAN!!

Im picking Nadal to win it, but I seriously don't know where he get the energy to do this from. He won the French, Wimbledon, and the Olympics in 4 months!! He cant go so deep in every tournament!!

best in the world

and she has the biggest behind in tennis history, I feel bad for the day she stops playing tennis.

Are you sure it's just in tennis history? :D

Djokovic won his match but looks like he got hurt, although it didn't seem to affect him much, we will see if he's fine when he faces some tougher competition.

Wow, yesterday was boring. Night matches were lame, no big upset, no really exciting matches. It was great to see Tsonga back in action though. And sucks that Tipsarevic got injured.

Mens:

Seeded players advancing: Novak Djokovic(3), Nikolay Davydenko(5), Andy Roddick(8), Nicolas Almagro(18), Jo-Wilfried Tsonga(19), Dmitry Tursunov(26), Radek Stepanek(28), Marin Cilic(30)

Seeded played eliminated: None

Womens:

Seeded players advancing: Jelena Jankovic(2), Svetlana Kuznetsova(3), Elena Dementieva(5), Marion Bartoli(12), Victoria Azarenka(14), Patty Schnyder(15), Caroline Wozniacki(21), Lindsay Davenport(23), Katarina Srebotnik(28), Sybille Bammer(29)

Seeded played eliminated: Vera Zvonareva(8), Francesca Schiavone(25), Anabel Medina Garrigues(26)

I'm looking forward to today though. Wanna see how Blake and Ivanovic rebound after some tough matches a few days ago. Hoping Mattek can make it to the next round too. It'd be nice to see an American woman not named "Williams" do well. She did all right during Wimbledon. As for the night matches, I haven't got a chance to see Vesnina play in a while either so that'll be fun. Too bad it's against Serena. XD. And finally, Ryler De Heart takes on Rafael Nadal in the second night match so a lot of people will be watching that one. I'm hoping for an upset or at least a good showing from the American.

did anyone watch the Andy Murray match just there?

the 3rd and 4th sets were pretty exciting and the tension on court was very clear

and my boy progressed so all is good!

Tough loss for Mattek. She lost a real close first set amd after being up 5-3 in the tiebreak, she basically gave it away with two unforced errors and then a double fault. After that she looked deflated. Blake advanced after his opponent (Forgot his name) retired due to a back injury I believe. Blake will now face Mardy Fish (Who just won) in the 3rd round. Ivanovic coming up next.

oh yeh baby lol

Ivanovic losing.... but she can still come back... I hope she does, I enjoy watching her play :D

I know Ivanovic has been injured but if she lost to Coin, this would be a HUGE upset. To be honest, I don't think Ivanovic should be number 1 but there's really no one else that can fill that spot right now. The WS don't play enough tournies, Jankovic hasn't even made a finals appearance, and Dementieva/Kuznetsova aren't good enough. If Safina wins the US Open and continues her hot streak she should be number 1 in no time though.

Ivanovic won the 2nd set

yay another full set of watching Ivanovic :D

I think she's correct. In her matches, because of her power advantange over her opponents, she dictates the points and who wins and who losses is pretty much dependent on how well or how poorly she plays and is out of the control of how her opponent plays. Her comments may not be the nice thing to say but I think she's right.

  • Author

Coin up 5-2. Ivanovic serving to stay alive. To be honest, I'm not surprised she's playing poorly today. I thought she was gone in round 1. My prediction looks stupid as hell right now though. :)

  • Author

It's over. Great game by Coin. Interview after the match was hilarious too. She looks like a fun girl.

WOW... Ivanovic is out....well now I get to sit back and watch the women side I'm not really rooting for anyone, I would like to see Davenport do it but it's a very long shot.
