US Open 2008

Featured Replies

Starts soon. All 3 or 4 of us tennis fans can discuss it here. Here's my quick predictions...

Men's semis:

Nadal over Murray

Federer over Roddick

Finals:

Federer over Nadal (Yup, Fed is back)

Women's semis:

Ivanovic over S. Williams

Wozniacki over Dementieva

Finals:

Wozniacki over Ivanovic (EDIT: I know I had it as Ivanovic over Wozniacki at first but that was a mistake.)

I think Wozniacki upsets Jankovic in her quarter. Should be nice.

Nadal looked awesome in the Olympics and Federer didn't look good at all...

Can't go against Nadal.... In fact I'm going with a Nadal over Djokovic final...looking forward to a great match.

On the women side I will pick Ivanovic in the Final but I think there are various woman who have a shot... Serena always has a shot, Jankovic, I been expecting Vaidisova to have a surprising run for a while now but I'm not counting her out, and I will also keep an eye on Safina... Dementieva could also give a tough match to anyone, it's only a matter of whether she can close it out.

I see Nadal or Djoker taking this one.

Not to jinx him or anything, but keep an eye out for 19 year old Argentine Juan Martin Del Potro. He's won the last 4 ATP tournaments he's been in, including 2 in the US Open Series (Los Angeles and Washington) and has looked amazing. His ranking has jumped from #64 in early July to #17, where he currently stands. Aside from Rafa Nadal, he's won the most ATP titles out of anyone this year, with 4. Along the way, he's beaten Andy Roddick, Tommy Haas, and Richard Gasquet. The kid always had the potential and it looks like he is finally starting to put it all together.

As far as Federer goes, I think he's starting to slip.

I saw that, it was a damn good match. I don't know much about Phau but he played his ass off today and could've come away with a win if he didn't make so many errors.

Yeah good match even though Nadal won in straight sets... Phau played as good as he can and Nadal was OK.

Lmao that's supposed to say "damn good match". Terrible typo.

And damn things don't look good for Anna Chakvetadze or Maria Kirirlenko right now.

Nadal will take over the number 1 spot after this tourny. who would have thought that would actually happen

He already is number 1.

Wow, Chakvetadze out already. Once she loses a couple of tough points she just completely breaks down. I really feel sorry for her.

did this happen after the olympics?

Happened last Monday.

Coco Vs Jankovic about to happen on USA! Also, Kirilenko was knocked out in a close third set. Bad day to be a Russian hottie.

Donald Young and James Blake are playing a hell of a fourth set right now. It's freaking awesome. I hope Young puts it all together soon because he's looking really good out there.

My boy Andy Murray safely progressed at least.

Its about time he took his game to the next level and made the semi's in a Grand Slam tournament

Nadal, Blake, Del Potro, Nalbandian, Murray, Monfils, and David Ferrer make it through safely to the second round in the top hald of the Men's bracket.

My tennis crush Maria Kirilenko gets ousted in the first round. I hope she doesnt turn out to be an Anna Kournikova type of situation.

Nice day of action today as The Williams Sisters, Ana Ivanovic, Roger Federer, Amelie Mauresmo, Marat Safin and newly crowned Chilean scumbag Fernando Gonzalez take the court.

oh and beautiful game between Blake and Young last night

First of all, I've had "dibs" good sir!

Secondly, and seriously, that's a pretty good comparison, Makiri is a good doubles player but is very underwhelming in singles at times...

As for the open finals... I honestly can't say for the first time in a while... there's a pretty good list of players (men and women) that could walk away with this thing

Hahahaha MAAAAAN!!

Im picking Nadal to win it, but I seriously don't know where he get the energy to do this from. He won the French, Wimbledon, and the Olympics in 4 months!! He cant go so deep in every tournament!!

I really hope Ivanovic wins since im in love with her lol, and both the Williams loose as soon as possible!

u sure as hell aint the only one lol
