Just got home from the game - WOW - Pudge is truly amazing. He is the BEST player I have ever seen play for our Marlins - BAR NONE.

 

What a pick-off at first base - did any of you get to see that on the highlights? It was OUTSTANDING. He is so QUICK. The runner (McEwing) never had a chance.

 

Great pitching - great defense - NICE game all around!

Back from Pro Player....what an ending! I can't say that was the most exciting game I've been to, only because the Marlins were typically blowing chance after chance, but for an ending like that I'll take it!

 

What an absolute insane game Pudge Rodriguez had. First of all they walked him twice, which gives him a 2-game total of 7 walks. The times they didn't walk him ended up killing them! He ties the game up with a solo homer to put the Marlins on the board. He guns down McEwing leading off first base in the top of the 9th to end that threat. And then with a two-out rally by Pierre and Castillo, I was SURE they would intentionally walk Pudge. I was CERTAIN of it! But no! Stanton goes right after him and Pudge promptly ends the game. Fantastic!

 

I've also got to give credit to Pierre and especially Castillo who had a really great swing on his single in the 9th.

 

Other thoughts...Encarnacion was sooo close to going back to back after Pudge....

Also Hollandsworth got a rare hit and nearly an RBI single but Cedeno robbed him.

Alex Gonzalez I believe went 3 for 4 and looked locked in again.

Oh yeah, and a very nice job by Almanza and Looper out of the bullpen!

 

Good outing by AJ, I wish we could've gotten him the win. He wasn't his dominant self, but that's when you know you've got a great pitcher, when he can still shut the other team down when he doesn't have his best stuff.

 

Hopefully Beckett will give us another start like this tomorrow and the offense can really get going.

Yeah I'd bet on Torborg staying with that new lineup today. Especially switching Pierre and Castillo seemed to pay off. Now if someone could just give Pudge some protection in the lineup....
