November 5, 200323 yr i think it was tougher to defend McKeon...all the #s pointed towards Leyland. Pretty much McKeon is more of a feel-good guy. Juanky did a great job for what he was given.
November 5, 200323 yr I too enjoyed the debate. As a former teacher, I was very much impressed with the writing abilities of both Juanky and WildCard. They have either had very good teachers or are both very intelligent OR BOTH. Kudos to both for a job well done. :teach
November 5, 200323 yr I personally appreciated Juanky's research on the topic -- what a great use of statistics! That's an area that I felt Wild Card should have touched more. He ended up using Juanky's statistics to argue the Leyland point of view without bringing in any new information of his own. Overall, it was a great debate, whether or not I agree with the outcome
November 5, 200323 yr i still dont comprehend this.... WC said Bobby Cox has won 11 consecutive division titles. He has won the world series 1 time. Juanky replied with And more often than not I would hire someone else. that makes no sense

November 5, 200323 yr in the playoffs, the best team doesnt always win Bobby Cox is one of the best managers there is, and to say more often than not he chooses someone else is plain foolish in my book
November 5, 200323 yr Bobby Cox is one of the greatest managers in ML history, and a first ballot HOFer.
November 5, 200323 yr a Bobby Cox hater is one thing, but to take others over him(more of then then not) is blasphemous
November 5, 200323 yr a Bobby Cox hater is one thing, but to take others over him(more of then then not) is blasphemous If you say so. You've been wrong on several ocassions. It is just my opinion, and I can name a handful or so of big league managers I would take in a heartbeat over Cox.
November 5, 200323 yr And speaking off the record, I believe Jack is, in fact, the better manager. But since I'm being forced against my will to argue otherwise, let me get down to the point. I think Juanky should've won it right here, lol. Note: not a good idea to do this in a debate....

November 5, 200323 yr Hey, it was "off the record." Nothing is off the record when you write it man, you should know that being an up and coming journalist.

Hey, I didn't choose this debate, and I didn't choose which manager to debate for or against. My personal opinion is much different from what I was forced to argue.

Hey, I didn't choose this debate, and I didn't choose which manager to debate for or against. My personal opinion is much different from what I was forced to argue. I know. I really have no opinion on the matter. But you should always keep conflicting opinions to yourself. It didn't hurt you this time, but in the future if you make conceits like that it'll make the judges wonder where this arguement is coming from and it will only hurt you. It would be as if a defense counsel stood up in court and said "Off the record, I think my client is guilty. Anyways, on with why you should acquit him." I'm not complaining, just giving you a tip for the future.
