December 3, 200817 yr Right-handed pitcher Javier Vazquez has been told he's headed from the Chicago White Sox to the Atlanta Braves in a deal which is likely to be finalized on Wednesday. Vazquez is flying to Atlanta on Wednesday morning for a physical. A baseball source told ESPN's Peter Gammons that the deal will include four other players, including reliever Boone Logan, who would also go from the White Sox to the Braves. Among the players expected to go from Atlanta to the Chicago organization are Jo-Jo Reyes, Brett Lillibridge and another top prospect. Vazquez, 32, was 12-16 last season for the White Sox with a 4.67 ERA in 33 starts. He struck out 200 batters in 208 1/3 innings. Logan, a left-handed reliever, was 4-4 with a 5.70 ERA out of the White Sox bullpen last year. He had a 2-3 record in 55 appearances. Reyes was 3-11 with a 5.81 ERA last season for the Braves. He started 22 games. Lillibridge appeared in 90 games at Triple-A Richmond in the Braves organization. He hit .220 with four home runs and 39 RBIs. December 3, 200817 yr Seems like a better deal for the sox I am not impressed by Vazquez or Boon Logan
December 3, 200817 yr Author Vazquez could improve in the NL. No DH should help. Gotta give the guy credit, he knows how to strike people out. Neverthess, our Fish should buckle down and cut down on their K's this season bc We'll be meeting w/ Vazuez a few times I'd guess.
December 3, 200817 yr seems that reyes is not one of the players going to the sox. although i think the braves are giving up a lot in lillebridge and flowers along with 2 other prospects for a middle or bottom of the rotation type pitcher like vazquez and bullpen arm
December 3, 200817 yr I like Lillebridge, and think he has a bright future, but we have Yunel Escobar and Martin Prado along with a few other guys who could step in. As much as I like Jo Jo Reyes, I do not see him becoming a very good pitcher in the ML. Not sure who the third "top prospect" is yet, my opinion on this deal will most likely be determined by who it turns out to be. As for Vasquez, I believe he will do very well in the NL, he is an innings eater and will pair very nicley with our young gun Jair Jurrjens and hopefully AJ Burnett or Derek Lowe.
December 3, 200817 yr I think this is a win for the Braves. They could afford to ditch Flowers because McCann won't be going anywhere in the near future. Gilmore, Rodriguez and Lillibridge won't make the Braves lose any sleep.
December 3, 200817 yr Vazquez is still sticking around, but he isn't the guy we knew with the Expos. He's going to give them innings, but I hope that's about it.

December 3, 200817 yr I see they are making an offer for Burnett which makes a potential Burnett/Vazquez/Hudson/Jurrjens/SP 5 rotation look pretty handy Tho if Im not mistaken Timmy Hudson will miss a good chunk of 2009?
December 4, 200817 yr I see they are making an offer for Burnett which makes a potential Burnett/Vazquez/Hudson/Jurrjens/SP 5 rotation look pretty handy Tho if Im not mistaken Timmy Hudson will miss a good chunk of 2009? yeah i think hudson is out til mid-august or something. although at this point i think jurrjens is better than vazquez. if i was setting up their rotation it would be burnett/jurrjens/vazquez/campillo/reyes or morton until hudson returns.
