December 7, 200817 yr Tomorrow the Baseball HOF is releasing the results of their two new Veterans' Committee voting ballots at 1 PM EST. The first one is for players who made their MLB debut after 1943, the other one for pre-1943 players. Living HOFers get to vote on the Post-1943 ballot. A player needs to appear on 75% of the ballots for induction, almost the same as the regular HOF vote. However, each person can only vote for a maximum of four players, which is different from the regular HOF ballot, which does not have a limit. A 12-member committee of sportswriters, executives, and HOFers get to vote on the Pre-1943 ballot. Like the Post-1943 ballot, each person can only vote for four players. Each player needs 9 votes total to be inducted. Post-1943 Ballot -Dick Allen -Gil Hodges -Jim Kaat -Tony Oliva -Al Oliver -Vada Pinson -Ron Santo -Luis Tiant -Joe Torre -Maury Wills Pre-1943 Ballot -Bill Dahlen -Wes Ferrell -Joe Gordon -Sherry Magee -Carl Mays -Allie Reynolds -Vern Stephens -Mickey Vernon -Bucky Walters -Deacon White I personally have no clue who will get in (if anyone). For the post-1943 ballot, I believe that Oliver, Pinson, and Santo are deserving of HOF status. On the pre-1943 ballot, probably just Vern Stephens and Mickey Vernon.

Well deserved! no surprise no one was elected post 1943. I guess they don't vote again until 2010 for the post 1943. Pre-1943 will not have another vote until 2013

December 10, 200817 yr Rabb between us, I believe that a few people are upset because of Ron Santo more than anyone else but Dick Allen is widely viewed as an unfair omission as of this moment to the Hall. I myself am iffy on Santo
December 10, 200817 yr Author I saw an article on ESPN.com yesterday where Ron Santo blasted the HOF for their voting. Probably not the best thing to do if you want to get in someday (although it worked for Goose Gossage a year before he got the nod).
December 10, 200817 yr I just have numbers to go by, but am I missing something about Santo? I mean, he looks like a great player, but not HOF great.
