November 3, 200322 yr http://cbs.sportsline.com/mlb/story/6802620 He'll probably resign anyway. So we have 7 days to negotiate a deal with him before other clubs can offer. If its reasonable (3yrs 25-30 million) do it...otherwise let him go.
November 3, 200322 yr 3 years is kind of too much. I say 2. Castro will be ready by then. He won't sign a 2 year deal for cheap. 3 years at least.
November 3, 200322 yr Author I hate that. Players say they wanna sign and stay with their families and stay with a winning team but they do nothing to help the team. Take a pay cut, Pudge. For the team.
November 3, 200322 yr 3 years is kind of too much. I say 2. Castro will be ready by then. Either Casto is ready now or he'll never be ready. He'll be 30 in 2 years. Pudge should have no problem finding somebody willing to commit to 3 years. If somebody is willing to commit to 5 years, they we probably have no chance. Does anybody know the date we have to sign him by? I think because we can't offer him arbitration we have to sign him by a certain date or we can't sign him until May 1st.

November 3, 200322 yr Author I'm not judging Pudge. But if he really wants to stay with his family, on a contender, at home, the least he an do is take a pay cut.

The FO knows that he and his family want him to play down here and stay as a Marlin. The FO has the upper hand in the negotiation. But Pudge won't get rapped either with a cheapo contract.

November 3, 200322 yr Along with Hollandsworth and Williams. I'm sorry, Hollandsworth most likely WON'T re-sign. He cost us 1.5 mil to sit on the bench- we don't have the luxury to pay a bench player that money. And Williams is a guy we won't resign, either. Just give his spot to Abraham Nunez or another 6-yr minor league free agent that comes along.
November 3, 200322 yr I want pudge to re-sign,and at the same time poor ramon he's gonna rot on the bench, how bout they let ramon play on sundays instead of red?
November 3, 200322 yr Pudge is supposed to sign a 3-year $21 Mill deal. That's what's being reported.

But I think that figure is low. .
November 3, 200322 yr Pudge is supposed to sign a 3-year $21 Mill deal. That's what's being reported. That's what was speculated, not reported. There's a difference. If you believe everything that Mike Beradino writes (even when he quotes an "unnamed source"), then you would have spent this last season watching Mike Lowell play 3B for the Red Sox.
November 3, 200322 yr 3 years is kind of too much. I say 2. Castro will be ready by then. Um Pudge > Castro Not even close.
November 3, 200322 yr Regardless of what has been reported, etc. I can't think of anything positive by Pudge filing for free agency. The only reason for filing is to either gain leverage in negotiations or start the process for other teams to bid in a week. If he was so close why would he file? Stupid Booras.
November 3, 200322 yr I'm not judging Pudge. But if he really wants to stay with his family, on a contender, at home, the least he an do is take a pay cut. Man, you know if you were in that position you would go for the money. Everyone would. He'll try his best to work out a deal but he's not gonna come here unless he gets something that's worth it.
November 3, 200322 yr 3 years 21 million?????? now he did get 1 year 10 mil but it was defered... 7 mil a year? that to me is a pay cut, but who is sure taht s*** anyways
November 3, 200322 yr How many people will be leaving our team! Pudge and Uggy was the 2 core players and now they are gone. How can we possibly contend now.....
