Sounds like Mayor Alvarez is as fustrated by the commissioners grandstanding and demands that are completely unrealted to the project. This is obviously his way of putting all of the responsibility on the city. If it fails now, it is all their fault. I couldn't agree with his stance more.

On a side note if this doesnt get done and it doesnt look good the 2009 season is going to be depressing , I have invested alot of emotion and money in this franchise and it will suck to travel down to Miami knowing that the plug will be pulled soon

Not to beat a dead horse, but now more than ever, the city commissioners need to hear from the supporters of the stadium. The mayor is right. Enough is enough. It's time to get down to business and stop playing ping pong with this deal. It's time to get the thing done. WRITE YOUR COMMISSIONERS!!!

it war city vs county Michelle Spence-Jones want her demand or she will vote no Marc Sarnoff will demand too from marlins this what could bring county and city apart that not good

Spence Jones killed the deal I am sorry while some in Washington might act like money grows on trees with bailouts and excessive wasteful spending it is not reasonable to demand a half a BILLION dollars from the city and county in new spedning and projects to go to her district .

If I were the Marlins and they want to stay here (i would not blame for leaving at this point) I would see if they can play ball with sarnoff the parking issue is off the table . The marlins have agreed to a 94 million dollar cap . If I were the Marlins I would agree to split the naming rights equally between the team, city , and county . Some one here might think this is a huge loss of income but the truth is in this environment the Marlins are not going to get a huge deal for the naming rights. Dolphin Stadium does not have a coporate sponser , Jacksonville Municipal Stadium (where the Jags play) no longer have a sponser.

Probably the the trickiest element of this compromise would be if the Marlins are sold what would the city /county get from the profit of the team being sold. I think a reasonable agreement would be 1/3 of the profit could be split equally for the first 5 years after the stadium agreement . After that the county and city split 25% of the profit of the sale of the team fior the next 5 years . After 10 years they get nothing. This proposal would call sarnoff's bluff , I think he would be inclined to come up with something else to avoid voting yes but at least we would find out if he really wants to make this happen.

The funny thing is all these jokers will be the first to say I wanted the Marlins to stay after they kill the agreement

Commissioner Regalado,

I have never felt so disappointed with regards to the people appointed to represent me. When I turned the channel to watch the city commission vote on the stadium, I was sure that it would be a formality. Instead, it turned into a debacle, seemingly out of no where. Everyone involved in the negotiations looked absolutely shell shocked, it seems that all these hours spent were for nothing, and now baseball is as close as it's ever been (once again) to extinction in South Florida. I highly doubt I will ever go the Adrienne Arsht center, but I guarantee you I would have made that ballpark my second home. I will never get over this:

1. The widespread dissemination of misinformation.

2. The lack of respect that the commissioners(yourself and Mr. Sarnoff) showed the people that put these agreements together.

3. DENYING MYSELF AND FUTURE GENERATIONS BASEBALL IN SOUTH FLORIDA.

Hugely Disappointed,

Luis Navarro

Just sent this to my commissioner. I don't do this very often simply because I feel it doesn't do much, but I'm desperate.

I don't think this changes anything.

The Mayor is only stating the obvious. Without the city's approval of the stadium deals, there is no deal. The city's commission vote has to go first and if/when they approve the deals, then it will be the county's turn. So the statement he made says nothing new. I think he is just venting a bit about the tactics used by Sarnoff and Spencer-Jones.

i beleive i remember sarnoff saying he does support baseball. And Joe Sanchez saying that is this doesnt pass they will be crushing the dreams of thousands in Little Havana.
