Marlins Stadium Deal Raises Questions Over Race

Featured Replies

http://cbs4.com/local/marlins.stadium.ballpark.2.961012.html ((She wants half of the stadium construction and operating jobs to go to City of Miami residents, who belong to unions. She is demanding the contracts to go to local business owners, and she wants to create a trust fund for youth baseball programs in the inner city. She is also asking for guaranteed penalties in the contract?so if the promises are not kept, the Marlins will have to pay into that youth trust fund. )) SHE NEVER HAPPY!!!! now we could see no vote if she donot get it her way that will kill the yes vote for city of miami

Commissioner Spence-Jones has been talking to the Marlins about the stadium for the last few weeks and now she springs this on everyone!

She was able to get the Overtown/Park West CRA expansion passed recently.

The Marlins signed an agreement with the NAACP but had to rescind it when legal questions surfaced. They still have a verbal agreement to try to give at least 15% of the stadium construction to companies owned by African-Americans.

Now she wants more! You give in to her demands and she want more. This is a classic case of blackmail. I don't think it will ever end.

If she should vote against the stadium on Thursday I wouldn't blame the Marlins if they gave up.

Someone from the NAACP should talk some sense into this woman before a good deal for black owned companies disappears.

"They still have a verbal agreement to try to give at least 15% of the stadium construction to companies owned by African-Americans."

Technically speaking ... verbal agreements aren't worth the paper they are written on.

Now this is clearly grandstanding. She has to realize that if she votes no, she gets nothing, right? Her district and it's people can't get any percent of jobs for something that isn't built. And the county won't be in any hurry to approve her CRA plan if there is no stadium deal.

Techincally speaking, vebal agreements aren't written at all, they're spoken.

Wow, that went right over my head. haha

If the deal gets approved with these verbal agreements on the side the Marlins should cover all the expenses related to all the lawsuits that will come out of them... but of course the city and county taxpayers will.

Thats what happens when you give a woman power.

Awwwwww, don't be all bitter and ignorant just because the both of you have microscopic dicks.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand, this bitch is really pissing me off. Seems like there is going to be another "look at me, look at me" show going on at the meeting (like that jackass Sarnoff pulled before).

And if it finally goes to the county, Giminez is planning a grandstanding play with more changes and demands-that even if implemented he says he will still vote against it. What a circus. By the time everyone is finished asking for 50% of the work force to come from specific sectors of the community, we will have 250% more workers than required. Should be fun on the job site with everyone segregated into districts and ethnic makeup based on the City and County commissioners demands.
