Lindstrom & Nunez are the only 2 guys in our bullpen that I, somewhat, trust. So yes.

I wouldn't completely object to Kensing

Kensing and Pinto aren't bad...I just don't trust them.

Nothing personal, but I can't have confidence in a guy that has trouble finding the strike zone.

If Kensing and Pinto get their control issues fixed, we'll have a solid bullpen this year.

How can you list Nunez as someone you can trust, when Im guessing you have never seen him pitch live in a regular season game, or even if you have, it would be an extremely limited sample size?

I have seen him pitch plenty of times. He has good stuff with good control.

He had a 1.24 WHIP in the AL last year...and now he's coming to a weaker hitting league.

He's a good pitcher, and everyone will soon see this when he becomes our setup guy this year.

Nunez for Jacobs was a good trade.

Pinto's control issues became apparent when he started pitching 345839392 innings a week because our starters would (at most) go 5 innings. But Pinto's too good to be "wasted" in the closer's role.

I agree about Kensing's control knock, however, he's pretty much an average reliever despite that, that being said, being almost guaranteed a chance to come in with nobody on and a 1-3 run lead may be beneficial, in that, it actually takes that pressure of coming in with runners on first and second and two outs off. It allows him to "own" the inning.

The thing against Nunez, is that while he's cool... his hr/9 rate is weird. If that "normalizes" there's no reason to believe the honeymoon won't be over. That is to say, he gave up 2 last year, but is much more likely to give up the 8-10 he did in other seasons. But he doesn't have the K potential that Kensing does.

But that opens up the debate over which is more valuable in the 9th and which is more valuable as a fireman... the dude that pitches predominantly to contact, or the dude that'll walk .5 for every K per inning (on average). Plus, Logan is less likely to give up the long ball (if you, like a rational human being, believe that 2 HRs last season is aberrational)... really, I think it's almost splitting hairs...

*it should be noted that my HR comment takes away Kensing's being thrown to the wolves as a SP... poor guy :(

Pinto's control problems didn't just arise at the end of the year, though.

Just look at his May stats, and he was already walking a batter per inning. Way too many.

As for what you said...I don't disagree at all, except I was just talking about our bullpen, in general, not just who I'd prefer in the closers' role.

If asked who I trust more...I'm just gonna say Lindstrom and Nunez before Kensing, simply b/c Kensing has more of an issue with his walk totals, that he has yet to get fixed. It doesn't mean I don't think Kensing can get the job done, just that when that reliever is coming out of the pen, I feel more comfy knowing that there's a good chance he's at least coming in to throw strikes.

Yeah, but outside of May:

April: 6BB / 18.2 IP

June: 7BB / 11.1 IP

July: 7BB / 13.2 IP

Thing is, it's not really the walks that killed him, they certainly didn't help... he just became very hittable at times (Notably June and August)... people just used the walks as the scapegoat... it was pretty notably just fatiguing and getting hittable. *Knock on wood* I don't foresee that becoming a problem, but I also don't want Pinto wasted in the Closer's role.

Absolutely I'm not denying that as I think Nunez will be a valuable part of the bullpen. I also don't have a problem with him closing if Lindstrom is unable to.

Yeah, same here.

Correction on NL vs. AL hitting. I believe the NL scored more runs than the AL last season.

The NL always scores more runs. It has nothing to do with being better, it has to do with having two more teams.
